don't think about what you're doing - think about what that does to the tone, and why you'd want to do that. but, before falling in love with a technique just because it exists and somebody else used it, always ask yourself: "so, is that what the drums need?" Yeah, this is what I'm saying that I've...

Drum Compression Vocab: Let's Define

I'm starting to understand what I think is meant by these terms. I'm just curious to see how others define the terms. Pumping Squash Please add your own terms too. Today I was using a copy of a mono overhead, "squashing" it and blending it with the other original...but I didn't like the results. I'v...

so, what kind of music would you want so many pieces? H. Hancock? I guess my concern is personal and not professional. chris is right that as a hired pro you'd need to do what the client asks. But personally I hate the typical tom fills that run down from the high to low toms and I am always impress...

I got one for fun when shooting out handhelds for my voice. It beat out the beta 87s A & C for me even though we still got a few of those for some of the girls that sing with me. My engineer thought it just did that special thing for me (tenorish). So, we kept it. Unfortunately we haven't had the ti...

I just did a large shootout between several live mics on my voice and a female voice too. We got a local dealer to let us borrow some for the demo. We used a couple of the Audix mics (OM5,6,7 and one of their top end hh condensors, the vx-10), the AT 5400 condensor, Shure beta 58, beta 87a, 87c and ...

The A7s are seemingly a bit harsh at first. I think that is just the ribbon tweeters doing their thing, but eventually I got used to them. They are flat and very articulate compared to the Event TR8s that I started on...a huge jump for me. Speaking of BLA mods...my first upgrade in monitoring was fr...

The whirlwind piece is balanced and has 1/4 inch connectors on top and bottom in the front and back. The other two are made by AP audio it say "a division of AP audio" and they look to be balanced as well. The back of these has 1/4 inch connectors on the top in the back. The bottom set of connection...

anybody had Labrynthitis? It is an inner ear virus that causes dizziness and vertigo. I just got a new electric last week and can't stand up to play it and even if I could it would hurt my ears like hell.

How are the A7s too big for you guys? Is it a matter of desk space? It has been a challenge to hear below 70hz on mine. I'm trying to decide on the sub for them. I really wouldn't want the A5s because I need to hear the low end better.

TC Electronics repair?

We've got an m5000 that the company can't repair since its been discontinued. I'm pretty sure its the power supply that is blown. Anybody know someone who could fix this for us?
