I find for an output stage for the EF86 a white cathode follower using a 12AU7 tube works fantastically and no transformer needed. I set up the output going to a TRS 1/4" jack as an impedance balanced output so that it works great with balanced and unbalanced 1/4" cables. Here is a schematic that I ...

Texas Instruments made a single chip synth that was used in a LOT of video game machines. Blacet had a synth module based on it called the Dark Star Chaos. The chip is the TI SN76477 and here is a link to a DIY version:

Re: audio in/ out
Oh yeah I'm sure they would read perfectly just like if you used an SD/USB adapter. The Zoom formats to FAT file structure so it can be read by nearly anything.bluestorm wrote:Going to research if wav files on a Zoom h4n sd card could be transferred on the sd slot.

I didn't notice they yanked expresscard from the 15". That seems like an odd choice. I can see it on the 13" as it never had an expresscard, but the 15" makes me scratch my head a little. Well, complaints rbought back the firewire port so maybe everyone should bitch about the lack of expresscard, BU...

Gave me back my firewire!
Wow, Apple surprised a bunch of people today by updating their whole laptop lineup. They renamed the 13" MacBook a MacBook Pro and what is even better is they brought back firewire! Now all the unibody Macbooks have Firewire 800. How sweet it is! I'll be getting the low end as soon as they are avail...

The only 48khz mp3s I've ever seen were audio tracks on a DVD. I think you are in for all kinds of problems with non-standard formats of any kind. Convert them to 44.1 and be done with it. I mean they are freaking MP3s, not an audiophile format to begin with. So, your slight degradation of quality f...

Cool, I just got one of these off ebay so I am officially adopting this thread and will completely redo this device for guitar/recording purposes. There are at least two others on ebay right now that I found (maybe more, they are pretty common). Let's not get feral with these and drive the market up...

These old heathkit signal tracers make great guitar amps once properly converted. Like many old Tube amps that aren't meant for guitar use (PA, Signal Tracers, Test Equipment, etc) you can add a quarter inch jack or two to it and get some sound, but it is far from ideal this way. What you really wan...
