Incidentally, unless I was hallucinating, these mics appear to pass signal without phantom power. And the signal is lower. I noticed this by accident the other day. Perhaps this could be a solution to the afore-mentioned "too hot" problem. To be clear though, I did not fully investigate -- maybe the...

I'll be going. My band will be playing, along with the Tim Lee 3, at the closing party at Rock and Bowl (www.rockandbowl.com) on Sunday night. Looking forward to it. From what I gathered from Craig, there's been a few logistical hurdles, but the intention is for PotluckCon to pick up where TapeOpCon...

Whoa, cool. Just heard this. You're off and running, Sean - tracks sound nice. Since I didn't have a pedal or easy way to regulate the organ levels, my suggestion would be to gently ride it up and and down in the mix so it's not so static and helps things ebb & flow a bit more. I dig her voice! -Pet...

Vid for new, weird, Weisstronauts song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15U7A4LE_Tk

Not the Weisstronauts per se... it's just me and drummer Jeff Berlin. This tune will probably never be attempted live. Thoughts? Comments? Lay it on me... Hope you dig...

My main band is instrumental (or "mostly-instrumental") and, boy, do we move product!

I'd be into this. I'm a fan of his work for sure. Trouble is, I'm assuming he's in the UK, and I don't know the next time I'd be over there. FWIW, I just did an interview with Neil Brockbank, Nick Lowe's current producer/engineer, when I was in the UK last fall. It's in the final editing stages... n...

Some things: 1. Sorry for naming Neil Innes twice. I lost track. But, damn, that's a fun solo. 2. Tony, I love that you spent time w/ Neil. We must talk about this some time. Email or call me. 3. The solo on VU's "What Goes On" was played by Lou Reed, not Sterling Morrison. Not to name-drop, but Dou...

The Rutles "Hold My Hand" played by Neil Innes.

Speaking of Innes, he also plays one of the worst guitar solos ever (albeit purposely) on the Bonzo Dog Band's "Canyons of your Mind." Clip here:

A totally trashed Chamberlin went for over 700 bucks semi-recently: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280172315000&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018 My understanding has always been that very few Chamberlins were made, while Mellotrons are not nearly as rare. The Chamberlin's flut...

I just put up some examples of my studio's piano. First "normal" (excuse the playing; sounds clunky out of the mix...), then with the Rinky Tink attachment engaged, then both sounds in the context of a mix. The Rinky Tink example will give you an idea of the timbre, although this particular snippet ...
