I don't hear anything unusual or special. Sounds like there was judicious use of a high pass filter to make plenty of space underneath for other stuff. I think it's mostly about the arrangement & the performance. The acoustic doesn't sound particularly hi fi to me; it could have been recorded with j...

Sure, taller is better, all else being equal. If you have space for a 12' ceiling, then build a 12' ceiling, don't pitch it to be shorter in parts of the room.

I personally would not spend more money to pitch the ceiling. I would just make it flat, and put that extra budget into treating the room properly. Of course, a well-engineered pitched ceiling can be part of the treatment, in the sense of aiming high frequency reflections and creating another corner...

I agree with Nick, I'm partial to one-room studios these days (unless I regularly track, say, metal drummers or something that would destroy my ears being in the same room with them). But apart from that, I like your plan. The dimensions are reasonable. BUT I would make the room longer than it is wi...

I look forward to your results. By all accounts the Clarett is an upgrade in sound over the (already excellent imho) Scarlet range. Will be nice to see....

You can also try arranging yourself in a part of the room that has more bass, such as corners. For instance, try facing into a corner, and putting the mic up in the trihedral corner (where the 2 walls meet the ceiling). This will likely yield an extreme sound, almost special effect sound, but will g...

I definitely load stuff up on my master bus. Often I use a Focusrite red compressor, some saturation, possibly a touch of gentle EQ, and a limiter (most often the stock Studio One limiter which I love). A big part of my mixing strategy is how I hit the master bus chain at various times & frequencies...

If it were me I would try the older driver (ie, the most recent one on the website). Can't hurt, right?

Maybe set up a restore point first if you are paranoid and want to get back to your inadvertently bitcrushy recordings.... ;-)

I upgraded the interface (to a USB interface I could also use on my laptop) and that problem hasn't happened since.

Could be coincidence.... lots of things changed besides the interface. Not the least of which is that I almost never track into that same computer anymore.

I used to use Delta 1010LTs, and that would happen periodically. Of course that was a few versions of Windows ago, and back when I was using Sonar, so who knows what it is.

I used to reboot and that would fix it, but yeah you don't relaly know it's happening until you listen back. Sucked.

Ah, for some reason the pic isn't showing up in the post but when I click on it I can see it in a new tab. I like Nick's idea of traps on stands around your setup, wherever you go with it. If that was my room I would consider facing the left wall, in the bedroom area, so that the setup is centered b...

Sketch didn't show up. How thick are your panels? If they are at least 4" thick then you can use them as corner bass traps. If they are less than that you can use them at reflection points on the side walls and ceiling. For basics on room setup, see: http://realtraps.com/art_room-setup.htm For basic...
