Re: Any of you Indies succesfully selling CD's on the intern
Hi Dyno, I'm sorry if I misunderstood your post. I also don't mean to imply that it is all about the money. Obviously we're not in it for the money and I guess I didn't really explain that clearly in my post earlier. Not to get all cheesy here but all of us in the band truly look at it as a privlige...

Re: Any of you Indies succesfully selling CD's on the intern
Although it hasn't really helped us sell millions, I can say sites like mp3.com, vitaminic.com, amazon.com has helped us get exposure all over the world. Especially putting some songs out for free on those Peer to Peer sites like SoulSeek, Kazaa, WinMx has helped too. Especially since it's been hard...

I think it talks mainly about their new album 100th Window tho, not Mezzanine.

Re: Masterlink DSP: Where to Start?
Any time any sort of manipulation is done to a signal it can be considered "degrading the audio." I think the Masterlink DSP sounds fine. The EQ can be a bit harsh if you're doing much more than like 2 dB in either direction, but I've never seen a good mastering engineer who does boosts or cuts muc...

Hi Alan,
Just curious if you tried any of the ideas suggested on this thread and how they turned out.

Re: Masterlink DSP: Where to Start?
Hi John, I also have a Masterlnk and love it. However, I've tried not to use the DSP too much as I read an article that Bob Katz (mastering guru) wrote that said that everytime any DSP effects (normalize, eq, compression )are applied, it degrades the audio (something to do with bits, wordlength) May...

FEEDBACK!!!!
Well, it really doesn't sound weird to me by itself, but I love using it to fill in space on songs.

Re: What's your favorite brand of blank CD's?
When I make a master I am using Mitsui CDRS. They work really well with my Plextor burners. Also the Taiyo Yudens work well but the nice ones are hard to find in SLC. As for data backups I use the lower end Taiyos. You should check out what your burner recommends. I know the plextor burners recomen...

Re: OK, I got a reel to reel, now what?
Ohh and don't forget to buy a demagnetizer. I highly recommend getting R.B. Annis' Han-D-Mag. Do a search on the TapeOp message board and you can find a ton more info on demagnetizers and repairing reel to reels. In fact, I think there was also another thread on where to buy tape. Oh wait, here are ...

Re: What's your favorite brand of blank CD's?
Bob Katz also recommends Taiyo Yuden. Here's a copy of the article and the link to where I found it. "USE 74 MINUTE BLANKS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE SINCE VERY FEW current brands of 80 MINUTE BLANKS perform adequately. And since all the stores are now carrying blanks, and the 74 minutes have disappeared du...

Re: Vox Pathfinder for $79.99!
Well, I don't know if this is a good example or not, but it's all I have ready to go. The amp was mic'd with an AT-4040--->VTB-1--->allen&heathSR-416---->audiophile2496---->cubase. Cheapo setup... i know. During the verses there is one track (panned slightly to left) that is a strat plus directly i...

Re: OK, I got a reel to reel, now what?
Hey, how's it goin? To my knowledge, the faster the speed, the better the sound resolution you'll get so in your case, I think the 7 1/2 would be preferred. There are machines out there that can go 15 ips and 30 ips but there are times where you might not want the faster 30 ips. I've heard from a lo...
