Anybody ever use the Aurolex diffusors? They seem a little less expensive and claim to do the same job.
muchas gracias.

Re: Classic recordings that are out of tune
Isn't all that early Sabbath detuned anyway? Again, therein lies much of the sonic charm.
I will agree that early Beatles is great if you don't make me listen to it.
Crime rules but I prefer the Weirdos (who also had a penchant for being out of tune)...

Re: Classic recordings that are out of tune
OK, why is so much great and pleasing music out-of-tune? Early Bowie, good-era Kinks, early-to-mid Stones and let's not even talk punk rock. Well, I've read Keith state a few times how he intentially lets one of his five strings go wild, I forget which and in which tuning. He thought it added bite a...

Re: Basement Sound?
ughhh. It feels so small already. I hate to think of drywalling in some off-axis wall to the configeration that will infringe on the overall square footage. Maybe a different material use in front of the concrete...

Re: Classic recordings that are out of tune
This is so funny. I just heard Badfingers "No Matter What" yesterday and there are definitely tuning issues contained therein. Ever hear "Lady Jane" on Aftermath? Ughh. But hey, these things can add a little character. There's a great old garage/rock band out where I live called Dead Moon. They're n...

Re: Basement Sound?
The concrete wall is going to be addressed after the ceiling. I'm thinking of making a disruptive surface to cover the wall. One idea would be to create foam peaks to break any standing waves, so it would look like this if your vantage was from the rafters ^^^^^^. Anything to break those standing wa...

I'm more of a music-geek than audio-geek but DAMN the vinyl of this set sounds amazing! Some of the best guitar sounds I've heard, great depth between instruments and a real organic thump to the drums and bass. Anybody know where it was recorded and a basic rundown of the equipment? And yeah, I know...

Basement Sound?
I'm looking for ideas on how to maximize my recording space for flexibility and minimize any problems that will need correction in production. Since I'm primarily recording loud, noisy rock I've got some give on these matters, however I want to compromise as little as possible on my tracking. It's a...

MOTU 896 HD + Audio Desk
OK. I've decided to go further into debt. What's the consensus on this Audio Desk program that comes with the 896 HD? Anybody use it? Will it hold me until I can "buy" something better"? In fact, is the MOTU unit worth twice the price as the EchoAudio stuff or does it just look prettier? Has all the...

Re: Interface for Mac G4?
All right, I got my computer (found a G4 733 dual for $600!) which means it's time for the interface. I'm leaning toward the Layla G3 but am still open to opinions. I'm concerned mostly about pre-amps that don't sound too brittle or austere. Any last opinions before I make a potentially foolish purc...

Anybody have experience using the 3G or the Layla with a lesser powered Mac?

Re: Interface for Mac G4?
If I wanted to go a little more "whole hog" would one of the Echo products work with my pedestrian G4? The Layla recommends a G5 but says it will work with older systems. Anybody have any real experience with this? $500 sounds good for a new product that might actually have some support.

Re: Interface for Mac G4?
I would probably go up to $500. I would like something that would be usefu for a while and which I could expand around, i.e. a Firewire unit. Am I being unrealistic?

Interface for Mac G4?
I'm the looking for the best interface for an old G4 400mkz. By best, I mean easy to use, reliable drivers, 24 bit and un-brittle sounding pre's. I don't need 100 channels, two would actually be fine as I plan on mixing down to two before transfering to the Mac. I was looking at an older PreSonus bu...
