I agree he's done some decent records. The Hiss' record (from Atlanta,GA) that he did is great.

Owen Morris, Pompaus !#$* & or Brilliant?
I had some Christmas cash to burn and decided to pick the making of Definitely Maybe DVD. I thought it would be a cool thing to check out. Get the scoop on how it was done. Anyway they do an interview with Owen Morris who says that he was the first to compress individual channels and the overall mix...

Re: Tom mic inside???
Maybe its just me but I could never see the use of sticking a mic permantly inside a drum. There's too many variables on getting a good drum sound. One of them being the shell itself. I too have seen these internal getups and looks to me that the way they mount them would soak up some frequency, dea...

Re: Midas Venice 240...direct outs?
Sorry I miss understood the original question. The only other thing I can think of is to make sure that the 5050 is setup to recieve a Line Level Input. If that doesn't solve your problem. Try sending the signal out an Aux Send. Then take the Aux. Output and plug that in to the 5050 and see where th...

Re: Midas Venice 240...direct outs?
This is being tracked from a live Show? If that's the case, depending on the club, you might be able to get a run off of the splitter box from monitor world. In all likelyhood though they won't be set up for that kind of thing. Are you mixing them live as well? If that's the case you could take a St...

Re: Reconfiguring I/O's for Amek Console?
Chris,
It is automation compatible, but I doubt I'll be using it. I'm basically using it for part of a Pro Tools front end and for mixing purposes. Is setting up the Slots still important for what I'm doing?
Thanks,
BJohnston

Re: Reconfiguring I/O's for Amek Console?
Hey Chris, It's an Amek BC2. It's configured with open spaces between some of the channels. Not only that, but there are 10 Mic/Line In Channels and 9 Line In Only channels in no cetain order on the console. I wanted to move all of the Mic/Line In channels together and all of the Line In Only channe...

Reconfiguring I/O's for Amek Console?
So I just got my Amek and noticed that I don't like the I/O configuration. I've never taken out Channel strips before. I opened up the console and it seems to be pretty self explanatory. There are multipin connectors at the bottom of each Channel that the I/O slips into. Am I correct in my assumptio...

Re: basic miking techniques?
There are really 2 most common practices of micing overheads. One is from "Drummers Perspective" the other "Audience Perspective". It's important to figure out which scenario is used to figure out which way to pan each. Drummers Perspective would be mic'd as if you were sitting down at the drum kit ...

Re: basic miking techniques?
Good question, I also like gating the crap out of my drums during mix down. The mic technnique definitely has something to with it. Listening to gated drums soloed by themselves generally sounds kind of weird anyway. Usually when you add the overheads, high hat, room mics etc... it helps bring it al...

Where to Buy Bulk Cable?
I need to buy bulk cable and connectors for wiring up my studio. I need a bunch of balanced cabling to solder to 50 pin connectors for Direct Outs and inserts. Where can you get reasonably priced calbe and various connectors? I'd love any help.
Thanks for your time,
B.
