I am an audio post guy by day as well. It's true, it's all in the pipes. As far as gear goes, for a lot of the "Big Voice-Over" stuff, I use a Sennheiser 416 shotgun mic, into a Focusrite Red 7. A good friend of mine has a Bogner. I've played it a few times, and just love it.
It's a 2x12, 2 channel combo.
A Strat into that just plain rules.
Add a Vox wah.... damn...I gotta calm down

Re: TAMA tension watch
I got one about 6 months ago. It works great. Just make sure the drum is flat when using it. The funny thing is, after I started using it, I got better at just "feeling" it. Now I use it when I replace the heads, just as a starting point, then tune by ear. It can be a little weird on cheap drums. I ...

Re: fatten my sound
G-ride!!!! Good to see you on the TapeOp board man! I think my friend here is looking for something to track thru to his ProTools rig, and also to fatten up the stereo buss when mixing. Turntables, programmed beats, gtr, bass, hand drums.... ect.. My guess is you don't want to spend big $$$$. Soooooo,...

Just my 2 cents worth, I'm a guitar/bass player, but I wanted a cool synth for some of my recordings that was FUN to play.

Hey, you have DSP's. Did that company go out of buisness?
We almost went with them. Cool looking workstations.
Sounds like a cool place!

The stuff he did for "Dead Man" was awsome!
I bought the soundtrack. Guess what... all that beautiful guitar is mixed with wind noise and ambience from the movie! Fucking LAME!!
Oh well... Neil Young rules

Re: Blue Baby Bottle? Does it sound good?
Thanks for the input y'all.
I'm looking for a kind of "go to" mic for my home studio.
I didn't realise the Dragonfly was not much more money.
Any other suggestions for under a grand?
A friend of mine has a Lawson he loves. I think at was around a grand.
