Milkman,
I forgot to say I replaced the resistors that feed the bias voltage to the grids thinking that they might have drifted. the thing is, at idle it's fine. it's only when you send a signal through it that the bias point shifts and they start to cherrybomb.

Are there any amp techs on here? I have troubles

I have had my friends busted Ampeg V4 for what seems like forever. He got it and a plate resistor in the power section had a meltdown...he took it back to the store and the guy replaced it and fired it up and it worked but he didn't notice that it lacked volume and the two inner power tubes glow red...

iKey Portable Recorder

I was talking to my audio production teacher before about a portable recorder. Often times I'm wandering around and hear interesting things and wish I had a way to record them so I could cut them down to a useable sample. He mentioned he heard his friends talking about a battery powered unit that wi...

I have a few. Tyranny of Shaw 3" demo, Enkephalin tour CD, etc...I think the biggest worry is getting and even coat as to not make one side heavier. Don't want it wobbling around. Krylon has a new line of water based spray paint out too. They carry it in Michaels craft stores and probably some hardw...

Joel, I have to admit running across that name during one of my numerous searches through the depths of the TapeOP board and trying to dig up information on The Book of Knots.

Algis came on aroung Greed. Harry Crosby was the bassist on Filth. They had so many line up changes. It's probably an old Ampeg. Joel, if you don't mind me asking, what is your project with Norman called?

I guess I'll try and email Gira. His email is probably on the Young God site. Mark Berry engineered the Filth record and his site doesn't have his contact info as far as I can see.

Swans - Filth

Most specifically the bass sound on this record. Totally crushing. Anyone have the inside scoop on what's going on with it? What a good record.

Are you sure they are in the powersuppply section? Those seem a bit small but some of the older amps had small ones. I would swap the tubes around also. Check the power supply voltages, higher voltages will give you higher gain. i'd depend on the voltages running through the amp...with higher volta...
