I'm going with III, but "Boogie with Stu" is one of my fav tracks for obvious reasons. My old lady jokes that "it's my jam" - whatever that means. "Gallows Pole" was the first song I learned by ear.

By-the-by, I've got an extra copy of "The Ocean" on 45 if anyone is interested?

I picked up an Axiom 25 about a year ago, and am really happy with it. I wanted something small and convenient to control the NI Komplete package. I have it on a Quik-Lok rolling remote stand next to my desk, which houses my MPD16 (I like it better for Battery) and Kore controllers. One thing's for ...

I'd be interested in suggestions as well. I've been looking at Mullard 12AT7s and GE 6072as over at www.tubedepot.com, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I need to pick up some Shure pads for the 2-610 too.

I'm partial to my Eisen pres (little Marconi knobs) and EQs, but I dig the retro look of my UA 2-610 too. Oh, and the faceplates and VUs on my 165As always catch my eye when I walk in the studio. I was just thinking about the old knob switcharoo yesterday when I was contemplating picking up the new ...

I usually just use the filter on the mic (414s and A-Ts), since not all of my pres have filters. I'm tempted to pick up the new ShinyBox Guillotine 500-series HP/LP filter when it comes out.

how about the sound of a snapping mic clip, a'la MD421? thanks for the link. i'll take a shot at that. In order to fill the entire 8 seconds, it could be the snapping mic clip, followed by the inevitable lunging for the plummeting mic (w/ grumbling and cymbol clatter), and ending with a thud as the...

Another option would be the Ebtech LLS2, or their newer LLS2XLR. I don't know that BLA does any work outside of what they offer on their site. Maybe call Full Compass over in Middleton, and see if they can recommend a tech; ask for Dave Cradler if the switchboard gives you the run around. Dang, I mi...

You might want to check with Jim Williams (www.audioupgrades.com). His site has a list of all the gear he mods as well as prices. I've been considering sending him my 165As for mods.

I've really learned to love my Germanium, but I figured "hey, 4 good (well, at $800 a channel I would hope it would be good) channels at a really cheap price might be more useful than 1 killer channel". But, if the Red series sucks, I understand. I also thought about a Focusrite ISA428 because of t...

I'm doing everything at my new place on dsub redco bays. Although apparently you have to be real careful with your strain relief since the dsubs rest on PCBs inside the bay and you could snap them... -marc alan Excellent point. Whatever you do, I would suggest you go with 8-ch. snakes. I went with ...
Dude, you are so on! I'm a sucker for Aurelio's! My wife was just up there this past weekend, but I couldn't go because of sessions I had. I'll probably be up there some time this summer, though. I'll try to keep you posted.
Right on! Yeah, you don't want to be up here right now - to...

I'm thinking Mullard NOS 12AT7s, but would appreciate other suggestions from those of you who have already made the swap.

Hello. Did you just get the VLA II..? I went on the ATR site and I like the new look! Maybe it'll sound "new" also... I may want one.... 8) No, I opted for the original. Like I said above, I don't really need all the new bells and whistles. And with the price drop at a few places, I really couldn't...

Any idea of street price? Hey Chris! I only saw it listed on one site so far (music123.com) for $379. Let me know when you're going to be in the greater Homewood/Flossmoor area again. I'll treat you to a pizza over at Aurelio's. Oh, and my Pro VLA just showed up; free shipping and it still showed u...
