8' is so low though. My commercial studio had 12' ceilings and all my two home studios had 9'. It just hurts my brain.

Thanks for the replies. I think I may just try the one big room thing. Perhaps I will spend my efforts on trying to get the ceiling pitched up. If nothing else, I will pul down the drywall and leave the rafters open. If I do that, the dimensions become 38X28X(8-12) feet. so basically 38X28X10. I'm s...

Time to build a control room

My Neotek is up and running and now I need to give it a home. The building I have at my disposal is 38'X28'X8' cinderblock construction with concrete floor and drywall popcorn ceiling. I'm thinking of a control room that is 8' high, 13 feet deep from front to back, and 21 feet wide sidewall to sidew...

I have gone through her. Fixed all the immediate problems and cleaned and lubed everything.

She is working very well. I still have some work to do before i start recording with her.

Yep, Demons sounds just as God awful as M5 Maps. It does appear my power supply is the reason I hear the gasping for current effect on these horribly mastered songs.

Funny that a shitty mix/master exposes a possible problem with my system.

Maroon 5 - "Maps" quite possible the worst soundin

Now I listen to a lot of music I would normally not listen to because I stream a lot on apple itunes radio while futzing around with my studio setup. But this song stood out to me as being either horribly mixed or destroyed during mastering. Anybody heard it on a CD feel the same way? I think I even...

Enjoying the new read. And reliving the original diaries on audio iBooks whilst creating thousands of Elco connections down at the studio.

Cool! Are you just working out of your house now, Rob? It's nice to see an Elite here in town. I dig those consoles. The hi-pass filters are really, really superb on those. I've made a couple of records on those consoles. Chris Garges Charlotte, NC I moved to Fort Mill, found me some land. I have 2...

The Neotek Elite arrived yesterday.

I know what I am doing for next 2 years. Making Elco cables. It was awful watching the moving company almost drop it off the truck a couple times. But ultimately it made it into it's new home.Image

Old post, but deserves a response: Very similar machines. The Bs are belt driven capstan The Es are direct driven capstan. There is also a B16D which is also direct driven capstan. I have no opinion as to which is better except belts can be hard to find. Also, the transport on my B-16 is much more r...

Ask youself, how would I feel if I bought a brand new unit from Apogee and they sent you one that someone had clearly demo'd and returned. Would you feel ripped off?

Do you own said machine, or is this a picture from a seller? If it is the later, see if he can get you a better picture so that you can see that bottom track.

+1 for the Otari. Used machines are plentiful and cheap (if you need parts).
