I have one of the first 2-channel Auteurs. Mine is OK until you crank the gain up and then you get hiss, which makes it difficult to use with dynamic mics or ribbons. Your mic pot taper issue with the 500-series might require a pot replacement to repair.

Wow. Way cool. The more I listened, the more I liked it. Not about perfection, just an assemble of simple parts and retro-y riffs that work. Reading the lyrics of the tunes is what sold me. I like music that is different, and this is. I'd like to read more about your recording & mixing techniques.

i see... any cheap recommendations? :) Recommendations for mixdown options? Sure. Any desktop or laptop computer and an audio recording interface with at least 4 ins and outs so you can transfer all the 244 tracks to the computer at once, then mix them in the computer with DAW (digital audio workst...

by the way #2, another noob question: is there a way to mix tracks after they've been recorded without an external device? i don't mean any fancy effects or anything. for example lets say there's a track that at a certain point i would love the volume to lower down a bit or switch it to the right c...

Palomino Record Pressing seems like an affordable solution.

The electricalaudio.com forum's PRF/Lake of Fake series of 7" are pressed by Palomino.

We musicians are just so hard on ourselves. I think kslight and joninc 's suggestions are good, but if you didn't touch the mix and left it alone, it wouldn't be terrible. I think the song and performance is very good. Personally, I'd just turn down the drum overheads some. Maybe compress the vocal ...

I've been in your shoes before. So many people who visit this forum have as well. Fact is, a well-known recordist told me some things a decade ago. Musicians are some of the most shallow, insecure people on earth. Most of them will and have done any number of things to be successful, and loyalty is ...

I emailed them at thekennel@thekennelstudio.com; Jim replied back and confirmed that the Tascam MSR24 1" deck was available.

http://www.thekennelstudio.com/ Wharton Tiers is involved with this studio in Brooklyn. Thanks, all. None of those guys have this particular config. Mark and Steve cross reference each other, too! The search goes on. I know there are machines out there! I contacted The Kennel studio in Brooklyn and...

I've always used an external preamp with phantom power when using condensers with the 388. I have some single Audio-Technica phantom power units, I think I'll try them to see what the 388 pre's sound like with condensers. I do know that the 388 pre's are closer to the Tascam mixers of the same vinta...
