I know this is not music technically but this is too cool not to share...
Recordings of ice sheets using underwater microphones. Amazing how synth-like and artificial the tones are:

Song of the month club...
I'm involved in a lo-fi "song of the month club" project with 4 other fellows. Someone starts with a song/part and decides order and sends out the details (chords/BPM) and track (just an MP3) to the group. The next person in line adds a part and emails out a mix of their track and the new solo track...

MR Clean, are you using the auxes for adding outboard gear during mixes? Or at all? I've got an old SPX90 on aux 1 and an ancient Yamaha R100 on aux 2. I've experimented and made sure they work - and you can send these two channels to your DAW as separate tracks (plus the master L/R out) but I've n...

I love it...
I think the Mackie is great so far. The unit itself is solid and well built. Install was easy - I'm running Vista and had no trouble with drivers or anything. This is my first experience with Firewire and was a little nervous - but no hiccups yet. I'm using Cubase and have had no problems with laten...

Ever hear about the "PorchBoard"?
Ever hear about the "PorchBoard"?
A friend sent me a link to some for sale on Elderly and then I found the site:
http://porchboard.com/index.htm
I cannot believe they get $240 for this...foot tapping thing...the copy writing on the home page is ridiculous.
Anyone ever see one in action?

603s Omni Capsule Set?
I picked up a pair of MXL 603s mics back when they were a stupid deal of the day (30 bucks each!!) and of course they have the cardioid cap on them. Now I see you can get an Omni set for about 50 bucks: http://www.spectrumaudio.com/marshall-mxl-603-omni-capsule-set.html Here's a stupid question. Is ...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Just got my Mackie 1220i. Unpacked it and quick tested. Drivers were easy to install (I'm on Vista).
Finally I will be able to get more than two tracks into the computer at once. Now I just have to figure out how to get my drum kit into my small 9x9 recording space

I ordered a Mackie 1220i - arriving tomorrow.
Will be great to finally record my kit (and others) with more than 2 tracks at a time. I'll post any noteworthy observations...
