An EVM12L will handle tons of power and reproduce the lows of the Bass VI without waffling out, though it might be kinda pricey so there's also the Eminence version which is cheaper (Delta Pro I believe).

Having just pseudo-mastered my pseudo album of pseudo songs, I will chime in. I didn't shoot for a specific RMS, but I did compare the level by ear against records with a dynamic range similar to what I'm going for. I used the limiter very lightly. Like just knocking down some stray transients -2dB ...

This, though IANAL. This is an important detail, since such things are decided amongst the lawyerly.
I though maybe Apple was now making adult gifts when I first read this.

Rattling Bones

Just finished a new album. It spans several years and 5 different recording platforms. Indie rock/roots songs with a dark streak and a sprinkling of soundscapes. Just in time for Halloween.

I feel like the 219's have better resale value, just from a few sales I've seen online. That may or may not matter to you but is something to consider. I actually own both as well, and usually gravitate to the 219 especially on vocals. Actually I haven't used my 319 in a while.

I have a question. Is there any real benefit to 1/4" stereo plugs versus 1/8"? You see both these days, why not standardize it to one or the other? Is the larger plug yielding a better signal or something? Ok I lied, I had 3 questions!

I know a guy dates GG Allin's ex-girlfriend. I mean, that's about the weirdest credit-claim I ever heard. A while back I got a gig at this terrible venue, equal parts bar and asian restaurant. The person who typically hosts wasn't available so they asked me to run the show. It's getting really clos...

Maybe not the best idea. If it's so humid that condensation is forming it's going to be out of the ideal range for an acoustic. iirc you want to shoot for around 50-60% humidity. Plus, the wild fluctuations when somebody runs the dryer aren't to be desired. Stability (temperature as well as humidity...

The place looks great! You added a lot more treatment since I saw it last, must make a big difference for mastering (and everything else). I hope all is well.

I don't have too much more to add other than it sounds really solid. Nice clarity/detail on the drums. I agree on the keyboard thingy sounding in between a pad and a full fledged part. Maybe edit it down so it comes in more towards the end (or after the solo) to give it more impact? Imho, any intell...

I see nothing wrong with dropping them a polite note asking to be included on the bandcamp page alongside the other people who worked on the recordings.

There are several videos at Pensado's place about vocal mixing, you can search episodes: http://www.pensadosplace.tv/category/into-the-lair/ Seems like he mixes a lot of pop/modern sounding stuff too. And not specific to female (or pop) vocals, but I've been messing around with the "swarm" vocal tec...

This is a pretty out there idea that hasn't been mentioned yet: Play the recording for the band and ask if they can live with it?
