As a rule, take what you have and make the most of it. But I am also a big proponent of reamping DI bass in general. I feel like a mic'd bass amp sits in a mix better .. this is of course assuming a bass amp that actually has some low end to it... I recently acquired an ampeg 4x10 cab, which weighs ...

the only thing i can say about it is how crazy crazy thin it is... other than that, it's just a pda with a full size keyboard and fast processors. it seems like an email / web browser and that's it. i seriously doubt firewire will completely go away too soon... but eSata and other interfaces are def...

I've found that with my favorite tube mics, they often sound a lot better when the singer is back from the mic a few feet... that usually gets the SPL down at the capsule enough to deal with it. Of course it helps if the room sounds really good to do this. If it's too much level, I switch out the mi...

Crowley and Tripp Naked Eye Ribbon Mic

Excellent Condition. Used maybe 10 or 12 times. Mostly on acoustic guitar and as a room mic. I recently moved into a new studio that has a huge stable of ribbon mics and find I'm just not needing one of my own anymore. Goes for 825 on Mercenary http://mercenary.com/crandtrnaeye.html I'm selling for ...

Audio Accessories 96 point TT Patch Bay

This patchbay is in excellent condition. Only missing the label strips for the front which you'd probably want to print and make yourself anyway. Connects with edac pins into the back which have switchable normals. I don't have the connector ends but you can easily get them by calling redco, or they...

This could be viewed as an experiment / market research of sorts. It certainly poses lots of interesting questions, which is probably at least part of the band's motivation. What do people really think downloaded music is worth when given the chance to decide for themselves? How many people will pay...

Apogee Rosetta 800 96k

$2000 This unit is about a year old. It sounds incredible, is totally quiet, easy to use, really flexible and probably one of the best investments I've made to improve my mixes. From Mercenary Audio website: There's no more important link in the digital recording chain than the A/D converter that ta...

I use the yamaha 2200 model. It's the best power amp i've used so far... it gives the speakers some balls and feels like it's really moving some sound... the mids are more focused and it just feels better than the other ones i've tried which include hafler transnova (didn't like it) p5000 (i think?)...

2x2 Ceiling Tile treatment

I'm about to move my mix / edit room into a small office in a larger studio. The room i'm moving into is 14x14 (approximately) and it has a commercial style tile ceiling laid out in a standard grid with 2x2 ceiling tile and 3 flourescent light fixtures (which are 2ft by 4ft). Three walls are wood, (...

Have you contacted Apogee tech support? They are really really helpful. They stayed on the phone with me for over an hour while I tried to figure out some problems with an X-HD card (turns out it was the card that needed replacing) I can't recommend it enough... they could hopefully answer why logic...

steven massey is just one guy, not a company or a "small plug-in manufacturer" It doesn't have anything to do with snubbing non pro tools users; Steve used to work for TL labs and he knows Pro Tools really well (which is why he does what he does) He can either spend his time writing really cool plug...

good things to know. i've always rented splitter box when we need them and now as i remember, it's actually a resistive split, which means it's passive and is passing phantom through... which is why i've had weird issues... so duly noted... glad to hear it. I'm actually getting some of these EWI box...
