Aguilar DB751 FS/FT, Excellent Condition, BK, NY

$1700 or trade for:

Daking FETIII Stereo Comp
API2500
1178
a good/great stereo comp of similar value...

I'm open to cash/trade combos in either direction... my amp plus cash for your more valuable comp, and vice vera... so a Drawmer 1968 would also be considered...

A friend of mine has one that is in need or repair... he might be willing to let it go cheap. I'll find out. it would be minimum 1k in working order... it's a 3wave music in NJ right now, and the refurb bill was going to be around 800-1k. he wasn't sure if he wanted to go for it, but you might be ab...

Get a tech to cal it. The Azimuth is out. You can end up with phase issues with incorrectly adjusted Azimuth.

I like that it is such a wizard-ly word. Azimuth.

sidechaining stuff is fun.

i prefer hardware gates. they sound better and seem to 'hear' better. setting a plugin gate is such a pain in the ass. they are always chattering, false openings, etc... hardware gates seem to be much better in that regard...

All of the mastering engineers that I trust for my mixes have the ears, chops and humility to make a record I deliver sound right. They may have to dig way into it, or they may decide that a flat transfer with minimal gain is appropriate... They aren't out to prove something or use all their toys, t...

for cheap speakers that will have plenty of low end to compliment the ns10's, i'd look at a used pair of KRK V8's maybe... they sound good in our B room, and while they aren't that glamorous, they are loud, have deep and punchy bass, and are nicely aggressive.

there are many great studios in the greater ny area, and many shitty ones (some of which appear great at first)...

meet the people, listen to stuff they've done.

don't just go where it's cheapest. go where it sounds best, and the people are good.

i think the lineage of that sound is: Jonathan Maron > Tim Lefebve > Me > everyone else... and it's direct off, oct2 off, oct1 full up. so good. that sound has become it's own instrument to me.

Allan Tucker at http://tuckersound.com/ is an amazing engineer and I've heard some re-master/restoration projects that he has done that have really turned out incredibly well.

That's where I'd start...
