Thanks to all who've responded. It's contributed a LOT to getting me straightened out on this topic. Turns out I dug up a MidiSport 2x2 I forgot I had that I tried to use when I didn't know what I was doing. I might try that to start with, then upgrade to something more substantial if needed. Just t...

I kinda hate Flash too, but I have to say that everything loaded amazingly quickly and ran well. I was particularly impressed with how fast and non-wonky the video stuff was. Kind of a cool touch. Assuming that the site will stay a Flash site, my only criticism would be of the scroll bars for the te...

Would it be a better idea to run a MIDI interface off of my XP PC (which isn't doing much except running softsynths) instead of my Mac, which is pretty heavily burdened with ProTools as it is? The Mac and PT work fine, but the less other stuff running in the background the better. Also, this should ...

It's not really that it's fuzzy - it's just a pain in the ass trying to do things on a jerry-rigged basis, I guess. I'd use MIDI a lot more if I had the routing and patches set up with presets for certain things, like sequencing in ProTools using the Triton as a controller, being able to switch easi...

OK, I'm starting to get it now. Thanks. I'm a MIDIot for the most part.... In the past if something required more effort than plugging in a MIDI cable and hoping it worked, I didn't do it. Now, I'm trying to do it right. I see now that having the extra ports would be useful. I'm fine with M-Audio st...

Help me clean up my MIDI routing please!
OK, I've now got too much crap to be unplugging and replugging MIDI cables one at a time. I don't do much sequenced stuff - none really right now, but that's likely to change some, as I've finally started occasionally recording a few keyboard parts as MIDI tracks in ProTools so I can audition differ...

Hey, NOW I'm offended. I DIDN'T get one of those emails! I stand corrected. Obviously, it IS that Undertow. Kind of weird. But at least they can back up what they're advertising. Those guys are really good. I know happy customers who've recorded with half of the guys on that list. I find the Underto...

SM Pro Audio
Anyone have any SM Pro Audio stuff? Just saw the SM Pro Audio A-08 8-ch analog-to-ADAT converter. Only $149. Wondering if anyone has used it.

Studio SOS
It'd be cool to TapeOp run a column something like Sound on Sound's "Studio SOS." Seeing as how it probably would have to be done on a low-budget or no-budget basis from the magazine's perspective, maybe it could be a "best spent $500" basis. For example, anyone who writes in wanting to have their h...

I hate to point out the obvious but...... http://carolkaye.com/ Yeah, that site is awesome! That's where I got the "felt over/foam under" quote in my post above. I should've stuck the website in that post.... Some of the pages are realllllly long so you have to read a lot to find particular stuff, ...
