Re: simple, FREE, multitrack thing for mac
It's not free, but since folks are talking Garageband, let me recommend Tracktion. It's $80 (free demo) totally usable plug-ins and an OK built in sampler. You can import audio, record audio and midi, and it's got simple audio editing. In fact the whole thing is really simple. I gave my $80 right aw...

Re: Printing color 11x17 posters
In alot of big cities there are print co-op's or collectives that can teach you to print (screen printing is indeed most economical for you, it's easy too) then rent workshop space once you know what you're doing. Also try hooking up with someone taking a silkscreen course at the local art school. O...

Re: Oxford 922?
The first go around of Mac OS 10.3-Panther had a major Firewire bug that affected the 800 (922) chips. Major data loss, disk corruption, bad dreams and etc. Official word says that the 400 (911) chips were not affected, but tell that to the dead silver box in my closet. The bug is fixed via firmware...

Re: Who's using electronic drums??
Roland has the TMC6 trigger to midi unit. Pair that with a few used triggers and you're in real cheap. If you're just going to use samples anyway-why get a brain?

Re: Is a 4-track cassette the center of your home studio?
I moved back to my 424 after a few years of wrestling with Cubase. It's just way more fun. I bounce around back and forth between the tape and Mac. But now the belt on the Tascam has started to howl and cry-anybody know a remedy? or belt source? ALSO I found a bunch of Realistic ENDLESS LOOP cassett...

424 capstan squeal!?
My trusty 424 just started screaming at me. Can I drop some oil down there? (doesn't seem smart) any other suggestions? it's too young to die! (12 yrs) -mad ---------EDIT-------- should anyone go searching for this problem? it's the motor, not the bearings or bushings, that squeals. I was using the ...

Re: korg ES-1
I've had my ES-1 for about a week, and though I've got some gripes, I love it. It is a bit of a pain to load samples, but not that bad really. The effects are global, so really only one at a time (unless you re-sample). I was making cool x0x style beats in an hour (with my own samples) and learning ...
