Re: making new mic cables out of old ones...

Can I add a question? I have a 50 foot long proco mic cable that doens't seem to drive condenser mics (it does work for dynamics).

would you suspect that the cable is so long that the voltage drops too much? if this is the case, I might separate into 2 or 3 shorter ones.

Re: Smells like indie spirit

one last though, when Warrent started wearing 10-hole docs, and said they were "growing", that was the real beginning of it all. there was no going back from there.

no matter what your friends might say, you'll find a way."

remember that shit?

Re: Smells like indie spirit

Celebrate the label, wierd. maybe Im totally off base, Im sure someone will let me know. I don't know if I'm letting you know, but the label 'alternative' used to confuse me back in the early 90's also. That was just the section the music was located in the record shops. I think anybody setting out...

That is pretty bad. I'm thinking the whole indy movement, bringing music back to the people....might have just peaked, and rolled back, and this is the high water mark.

Re: Dude!!!

NewScientist is a British Publication, and they don't toke the same as North Americans. They are more social about it, not as baked, more buzzy than it probably sounds.

That does explain a few things though.

I like most of the Four tet and Mice Parade, and the Boards of Canada EP 'a nice place in the country' played at 33 rather than 45.

i really like 1554, from the makers of fat tire. oh my word, Fat Tire is one of the nicest things I have ever tasted. that was in Houston. so I get back to Canada to discover they don't distribute East of the Mississippi. those Rat Bastards. so, I drown my sorrows with: Liberty Ale and Anchor Steam...

Re: Hooking it all up

I agree with everyone two ideas to add: record the drums 'sound check' style before hand, and do a test mix to decide if all the mics are required. I would just DI the bass. model it in software, reamp it, double it with a live setup later, whatever. people poo poo DI on bass, but it is so easy, and...

Re: My oldest client has betrayed me by trying to record at

why don't you just ask her what the deal is? It's likely not as bad as it seems. I imagine she likes the idea of creating a recording. What Trevord said, you can't record at home, is true for many people. you live at home. you work at work. It doesn't make sense until you try it. she'll be back, and...
