EDIT: Pirated 6.9.2 (Digidesign wouldn't sell or give me this version) and got it working with a pirated auth code. Ridiculous amount of hoops to jump through to use the interface and software I already paid for... but it's (apparently) working now.

Which PTLE upgrade for G5 running 10.4.4?

I've been running digi002/PTLE 6.4 on an old G4 for about 5 years now... just installed 6.4 on my dual-core G5 running 10.4.4 and it's giving me the "Hardware is in use (-1133)" error. I went to the Digidesign website to download 6.9.2 but the digidesign website won't accept my PTLE code from the ma...

Thanks Des, I'll try that (I got a bunch of old-but-working USB/FW drives sitting around that are all about 30/40/75 GB.) If I do end up doing the enclosure-plus-sata-drive thing (I'm not a computer guy, honestly, and I've never done this before!) I'll make sure to get one with a fan. I do draw TFD,...

That's interesting, I didn't know about the remapping thing. I was considering getting a 64/80/128GB SSD for tracking, since I feel like I'm rolling dice trying to get a FW HD to survive anymore. In the past year I had a LaCie BigDisk 500GB and MyBook 1TB both fail to unreadable/unmountable states f...

I'm really curious about the performance/reliability of SSDs as well. The main issue with SSD longevity seems to be the number of times you write to the drive - from what I hear you can "optimize" your OS to write to it as few times as possible. I was thinking of getting one of the 128/256GB drives ...

I ended up getting a Big Knob and it sounds fine, does what I wanted. I even used the opportunity to get some new cables for my monitors. Off topic, I was hoping to mess with an MPC5000 when I was in the Big Music Store but even though they had it set out and turned on, there were no audio cables ho...
