Are you saying you mastered your own stuff? Don't do that.

Re: How's my setup?

I'm looking at ProTools7 I assume this was a typo. You'll need PT9 at the minimum to be able to use it with the RME box. PT7 is tethered to the old Digi hardware (mbox and 002/003 lines), i.e. is not very future-proof (although, I'm sure there are still working units floating around used for not mu...

People are running Thunderbolt on PC's successfully. Check the UAD forum for details.
Wow! Good to know, thanks. I doubt OP's XP box could handle it... could be wrong though.

"1) You want compatibility with other (bigger) studios so you can transfer sessions between your home and another place." this is the reason I thought I'd like to make the switch I'm definetly a small time home recording hobbyist, however I play in bands that use professional studios from time to t...

$30/month for the privilege of access to your tools. Unbelievable.

Somebody please explain to me how this is different from paying organized crime for "protection."

Feel free to tell me this is off topic (it is, sorta) and I'll take it elsewhere, but man... what a racket.

Seems like the opportune time to be buying the previous-gen Mac Pro. Has all the horsepower/peripherals you'd need to run a DAW, and the price should drop.

Google Music might also work for you. It allows you to store 20,000 songs in the cloud for free which can then be streamed to any device. Seeing as you have a spare iThing laying around this solution would cost nothing.
