You know, at the risk of sounding completely unhip (in light of all the haterade being splashed around), I listened to all the available tracks online, and I think the record's not bad. I'll probably even buy it. It's certainly closer to the "classic" Metallica sound than anything they've done in th...

One thing you could try, if the "bass drops" aren't going off all over the place, is to sidechain the buss compression so that the whole mix sucks down a little when the drop "drops." You know, the old hip-hop/French house trick. Tread lightly, it's incredibly annoying (to me, at least) when a whole...

Digi003... Has ANYONE bought one?
I'm just curious... it doesn't seem to me like these are exactly flying off the shelves. Most folks seem content to stick with their 002's or even buy a used 002. I can totally understand why, since they haven't totally locked out support for the 002 yet and the "upgrade" is pretty insignificant. I ...

I wonder if they ( meaning the movie business ) will try to replace him with a sound-a-like or something. I vote for George Lowe. I think the world would be a better place if Space Ghost picked up all Don's work. How about Peter Cullen? It would be pretty sweet if Optimus Prime narrated all the mov...

That jack sticks out the bottom all awkwardly and can make placement an issue, and the clip is just begging to get lost or broken. The Beta52 and the D6 at least just have threads build right into the housing, which is a much better design IMHO. I made a cable specifically for the D112 with a right...

I can't believe anyone cares enough to waste money on this nonsense. Even IF there was a measurable difference, (note that ALL this stuff is anecdotal) this is some serious hair-splitting. I mean, the format is only 16 bit to begin with - it's not like CD's are immensely high-fidelity compared to wh...

every show we play, we get "metal kick." we want "indie kick," but we always get "metal kick." if Thaddeus Breatheyfolk and the Light Strummy Lads of Softness were playing, they too would get the "metal kick." no exceptions. Well, you gotta remember that most clubs have a very small selection of mi...

Sorry, but no amount of recapping a B*$@r will make it less susceptible to failing in the middle of a gig or a recording session. They are poor plagliarizations designed for a short transition from music gear to wheel chock, and their "authorized service centers" won't do anything other than comp...

Usually around a .018 or .020 gauge G-string, they start to make wound ones. D'Addario makes some "jazz/rock" sets that go as low as a .010 on the E and still have a wound G string. Me, I love heavier strings on guitar, but maybe that's because I'm really a bass player. I use 11-54 on my Epi Les Pau...
