Presonus Studio Live 16:4:2 vs. A&H Mix Wizard3 14:4
Any thoughts? I hear the pre's in the A&H boards are phenomenal. I also hear the Studio Live is a dream to work with. Not played with either and am looking to buy for a bar/live music venue that does original music 3-5 times weekly. rock, folk, singer/songwriter, funk, country, etc.

Putting together a gear list for a 920 max occupancy venue. Use will be primarily rock, indie-rock, folk-rock, jazz, singer-songwriter, comedy entertainment. Investigating consoles, speakers, stage monitors, subwoofers, power amps, fx rack, snakes, mics, etc. (New and Used). Any suggestions on what ...

I live in NYC too. Your revenue stream might be eaten alive by your rent - especially since you are using the studio to do your own thing, not to actually make money (if that can be done with a studio nowadays). I've found some commercial spaces (2k sq. ft. approx 3k per month) that I'm considering...

Here is an alternative idea: invest the 50k in a high yield investment account. Keep the principal - spend the dividends on gear as it comes. I only know enough about high yield investing to know I'd very likely be taken for a ride. I live about 6 blocks from Madoff er well ...where Madoff's wife l...

Wow. That's a bunch of dough. Take your time, man, take your time... money like that can go to your head quicker than you realize. I appreciate the wise advise. "I am a patient boy...I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait" One thing to at least consider... once you get away from the City real estate become...

OK, if you're talking about actual dollars and looking for contractors, it would help to describe what you might be recording. String quartets? Death metal? Synth pop? All have very different room/equipment/etc requirements. Are you comfortable working with a console, which I and everybody else sug...

Hi Guys Thanks for all the feedback. It seems that the consensus is to concentrate on choosing the best space possible. Any thoughts on ideal room dimensions? I know that rectangles are better than squares and high ceilings are preferred. And no 90 degree angles. I treated a couple rooms a while bac...

I'm kind of hoping for more gear suggestions. Let's assume that space and operating costs and all that kind of thing are not an issue. I mostly want to build it to record my stuff and my friends stuff. But I want it to sound as good as possible for around 50k. For the record: This studio is not inte...

50k fantasy studio
Let's say I have a rich uncle that's gonna be dead soon. And he's told me I'm his favorite nephew. And let's say I'm going to spend it all in one place regardless of conventional wisdom.
What would your 50k studio be made of?

Best places in NYC to record?
Not sure if "gear talk" is the right place for this...
Just wanting to get your thoughts on great places in NYC to record a single. I'm kind of looking for some of the lesser known "eclectic" studios - B'klyn or otherwise.
