I use a ton of VST's when designing/recording new sounds for my own songs, and I would always place them on the second monitor for speed sake. Goober is right about the placement, though. I had to have my monitors (sound, not light) in a mid-field position and the screens on a low resolution and pus...

Just picked up a Bluebird mic for $350. MMM! Goodbye MXL, you just never had the output (or even a large diaphragm for that matter). If all goes according to plan, today I will pick up an ADAT as payment for a record transfer. It'll be nice to have those extra channels instead of having to 2-trk fr...

anyone? The way I do it (I think my patchbay is half-normalled) is to plug the send left and right into the top row (back) of the patchbay and the return into the bottom. That way you "normally" just send/return nothing, but if you want to patch in something else everything is right there. As far a...

I just picked up a good-as-new Bluebird mic from a guy on Craigslist for $350. Now my vocals sound so good I won't have to eat for a couple of weeks! I also got a Niles "audiophile speaker selector" for like $5 at Savers that has allowed me to get rid of an entire amplifier, a RatShack switcher box ...

BTW bluesman, could you do me a huge favor and take a peek inside that SM unit to see if the mono switch requires resistors for the 6dB or so of attenuation needed (I assume) for a smooth transition? I would love to put a mono switch into my source switcher, but can't seem to find any info. Perhaps ...

You also wouldn't want to use separate controls for Left volume & Right volume; how would you know that they were both set at the same level? *Minnesotan accent* Oh, well that uhh... that's a pretty straightforward kinda operation there. You just take the old, dah, drive belt out of the Chevy ya kn...
