Parallel compression and the surface controler
Hello out there: I've been mixing on analog consoles for quite some time and I'm moving more towards mixing "in the box" with control surfaces. One thing I like to do with some of my mixes (I'm sure that some of you out there do this as well) is buss a submix of the drums to a spare pair of faders a...

WTB DBX 165 stereo slave cable
Hey there everyone:
I've got 2 DBX 165's that I want to use in stereo mode (slaved) but I've lost the control cable that links them together. I'd like to buy another one or get the pin-out's so I can make one. Any help would be much appriciated.

Joe Meek VQ3
Anyone out there have any opinions about the new and old Joe Meek VQ3's. I know that they're not following the old design & some folks say they don't sound as good. Did they sound good at all?

How Much Time Do I Need?
Ok, it's the question we all here time and time again. How much time is this going to take? or How long will it take to mix this? Lately, I've had my hands tied by budget or schedule or both. How much time is enough time to do a project? Here's an example; I had 12 hours to mix a 10 song album. We g...

I'd recomend the MXL 603's. They're cardioid condencer mics but they're cheap and they sound great.

MXL 603 Mogami Edition
I just finiished recoreding a film score session with these mics and man was I impressed. I used them on drum kit overheads (duh.), harp and percussion. The thing that surprised me the most was how well they worked on a concert bass drum and tympani. The bass drum sounded amazing with the 603's. I h...

I just used my 121 and a Milab on acoustic guitar through 2 ISA110 pre's. Quite excellent.

You gotta love the evangelical right huh? Thanks Middle America for 4 more years of Dubya. Seriously...moral values? I don't get it at all. How does invading another country and lying to the people you're supposed to represent all to impress your Dad show moral values?

Audix D-3
Anybody found a good use for this mic? I used it on a trumpet a few weeks ago & it was kinda cool. It's not that great of a drum mic though.

Re: Akai DPS to Protools
A client of mine has one and is looking to transfer his files into my PT rig. I haven't used one to be honest. I just wanted to make sure that I could read the files before I took on the gig. It sounds like it's a pretty cool "all-in-one" box though.

I'd cut the 1/4" conector off & replace it with an XLR. Simple...done.

Re: Advice:How mic drum kit with dig recorder
You could set up another mixer like a Mackie 1604 or something like that & get a stereo balance togther. Then take the output of the Mackie & send it back to the Roland. There should be two 1/4" jacks for inputs on that box right?

Re: Akai DPS to Protools
Thanks for the easyboard link. DPS world had the answers, though I had to dig for a bit...not like here. For all those interested DPS will export BWAV files so Protools can read them.
