Wireless LAN Audio device

I'd like to have a 2-in 2-out stand alone box that would allow me to set up a remote in any location in my house, using the wireless LAN. I suppose this means a box with decent pres, A/D, and addressable via URL. This isn't too much to ask, is it? Maybe it already exists? Getting this out on the oth...

Master Room

I also have one of those 3 1/2' tall Master Room units. One input, two outputs, used to be a touring unit and had a nice road case. I wish now that I had also bought the taller one. It's a bit noisy, so I can't let the tail hang on the end of a song as I might like, but otherwise it's wonderful. Mon...

Samples are going up- http://www.somewhereoutwest.com/catalogue-empty.html It's funny how many hooks, bridges, and choruses fall right around 15 seconds in length. Probably has something to do with the "one minute to chorus" rule, and the "three minute song" rule. (not that I believe in these rules,...

That is about the size of it. It would be like a label, like a boutique label, except that I don't really try to work in any particular genre or style. I'm limited by my space now, and can't record LOUD drums here, but in future I hope for more space and better isolation, and then I can record more ...

Hmmm, yeah, right. Now, I might find that interesting if I could hear real well. If I was drunk, and could hear real well. But you're right, it's not like there's much usually going on visually of much interest in a studio. To make anything out of it you'd need a video crew. Several cameras. Voice o...

There are sites with people who do this and a few have a continuous stream of the control room, it wasn't that great, kinda boring.
Got a link?

I'm feeble minded enough to find a http://www.cnyweather.com/livecam.php weather cam interesting, so I might like it!

Bandwidth- I think if I keep the samples on the catalogue page and require a click for each one it will keep bandwidth demands to a minimum. I don't think continuously streamed 15 second long snips would be very entertaining or informative, but I might be wrong! As for open mics in the studio, well,...

Snarl- Thanks again. I completely agree about the samples. I ran off something like 60 of them yesterday. None will go up until they can all go up. I was working toward providing a video stream during sessions until I discovered that my P.O.S. studio computer couldn't handle it. It would be an adven...

That is an excellent suggestion! Back in the day I offered streams. Quality sucked, there were constant maintenance problems, bandwidth, yadda yadda. So I haven't thought about it for a while. Other than it being a boatload more work to generate and upload the samples (which is OK, actually), I'm gl...

On the homepage- http://www.somewhereoutwest.com there is a featured song top right, in mp3 and ogg formats. This one is a good one, the Old Time Liberation Front. Scroll down the page to check for any odd music posts- visit archives for more. And thanks! It's tough getting this interface going. Par...

The allure of the studio website

I don't see a better place to post this, and there are people involved, so here goes... I rely on my website to build my listener base. Not my client base, mind, because I don't actually have clients per se, and usually have plenty of folks to help make recordings here. The idea is to ask listeners ...

people aren't buying music to listen to the music inside of it. they're buying it for the art & packaging, for the security of always having a physical format, and out of respect for the musician that released it. So you're saying that they get the music free, then buy the "product" as a means of s...
