Re: Behringer XM8500
P S I also bought one of the Behringer bass heads that musicians freind has for 200 bucks. I play bass for a local rock era band, and was using a HARTKE4000. The Behringer blew it away so badly that I sold the HArtke. I originally bought the Behringer for a backup, but it is so rugged and so much be...

Re: Behringer XM8500
I am a very serious musician, I have been playing for nearly 40 years, and used a lot of gear. I have 2 CDs out, in which I play all the instruments and compose all the music/lyrics. Behringer is by far the best deal going, I prefer it to a lot of much higher priced gear. As for mics, the proof is i...

Re: digital guitar?
I think digital guitar will catch on big time in the future. I own a Roland Gr09 synth, and if you know enough music theory, they are great in the studio, I can make mine sound like jsut about anything, and it is authentic sounding. I have used it to do Flute, Cello, Sitar, Banjo, as well as organ a...

Re: witnessing a recording session
I have two that would in my opinion have been absolutely fascinating. First is one of the early Moody Blues albums where they played all the exotic instruments. Those guys created some of the most interesting and beautiful music of all time, and played some (at the time ) pretty obscure instruments ...

Re: Can you explain what transformers do?
It is true that transformers either change voltage potential, but I think in the case if a microphone it also may help with impedence and level maching. Mic inputs need a specific input level and a specific impedence. Impedence of devices in relationship to inputs have a ratio, and I am thinking tha...

Re: Subliminal Audio Techniques
I have considered this before, and I have wondered if you could simply record a message on a track during the music, then run it through a pitch transposer , and if it is still audible, run it through the transposer again, running it up an octave each time, until it is inaudable. It is my conjecture...

Re: Too many guitars
I built a rack like MARQUEEMOON shows out of some huge dowell rods I had around. I put some pipe insulators (real cheap at hardware stores, they are round foam witha split and a hole down the middle) to make a soft rest on the wood. I did it so I can just reach from a sitting position in the studio ...

Behringer XM8500
I would never have beleived a mic this inexpensive would be so great of a performer. This mic sells at Musicians Friend on special at 3 for 59 bucks. I bought two of them to suppliment my drum mics, and I was amazed to find out that it is a fantastic vocal mic as well. At one time I had an EV357, an...

I have recorded two CDs using this mic, it is deathly quiet, the frequency response is nearly flat, it handles high SPL, and it is the most natural sounding mic I have ever heard. I have used it to record mostly vocals, but it also makes a great kick drum mic, as well as an acoustic guitar and gener...
