Fender neck advice...
Hi all, This isn't really a recording-related gear query, but I have a feeling that someone here will be able to help me out. I'm in the process of putting a frankenstein Jazzmaster together, and I think that I'm going to need to find myself a new neck. I have a '63 Jazzmaster whose neck I love deep...

I had one consistent problem with my 828 mk1: almost everytime I transfer data over my FW bus (or really use the FW bus in any way at all) it will pop, click and almost invariably cut out. All I have to do is to flip the power switch to get it up and running again, so it's not really the end of the ...

WTB: Symetrix PS-3 power supplies
Howdy, I know it's a long shot, but... I'm in the market for a pair of Symetrix PS-3 power supplies. This is the supply that comes with all of Symetrix's 300-series stuff, as well as the 450 and 460. I'm hoping that someone out there has blown something up and has a spare PS-3 lying around as a resu...

Re: Tube Amp for ipod...sit down first....
Anyone done some tests to see whether they could distinguish between CD versus 320k MP3 files? I ripped MP3 320 kbps files on my iMac, and then burned to a CD. took the burned CD and the original CDs to a friend's house. He loaded both in a Sony jukebox changer, feeding a parasound amp, and into a ...

Re: Favorite Christmas albums (yeah it's early)
There's a John Fahey one I like. Can't remember it's name. There are a few that seem to mostly be repacked versions of the same handful of songs. I have one called John Fahey Christmas Guitar and one called Christmas with John Fahey vol 2. I think there's a CD called The New Possibility that has mo...

Re: The new Ted Leo/Rx album...
Ok, I can see the point on the muddiness... but I guess that and more is what gave it character to me. It sounded Raw. But badly mixed? I don't know, i loved how it was mixed... lots and lots of fun hard left/right panning, weird stuff like that. The only song I really hate production/mix wise is "...

I've only ever seen the Lomo capsules for sale at the sound room. Although I'm sure Michael Vladimirsky (rtt@online.ru) could hook you up as well. He seems like a good egg.

Re: The new Ted Leo/Rx album...
here's one off their site: http://www.tedleo.com/audio/Me_and_Mia.mp3 I hear autotune, too... a radio-rock bore-fest, imho... Where are you hearing autotune? Ted Leo is a ridiculously gifted singer, so I doubt that he'd be singing anything out of key enough to need autotuning to the extent that the...

Re: bass cab mics
I've also had good luck with the Beyer TGX50, Chris Garges Charlotte, NC That's my favorite for loud rock stuff. I bought it as kick mic, but it sucks in that application. It's even pretty cool for vocals sometimes. I actually like it for kick drum. I recorded a television with it last week as a ba...

Beyerdynamic M380TG dynamic mic for sale.
The Beyerdynamic M380TG is a bi-directional dynamic mic favored by the Westons and Albinis of the world. It has a huge proximity effect and is a fantastic sounding microphone for most low-end heavy sources. Works amazingly well on electric bass cabinets. $340USD, includes shipping and insurance in U...

Re: Fiberskyn vs Renaissance vs Aquarian Vintage
Just because no one's mentioned much about the american vintage aquarian heads, I'll say this in their favor: they have a slightly larger diameter than most modern heads so they fit more easily over vintage drums. If you own a round badge gretsch kit, you will understand what a godsend this can be. m.
