Man oh man is that a nice list of purchases. Once you give it a good run through could you give an opinion on the pre73? A few people have said they've gotten them in this thread, and I've asked for some opinions, and so far no one has really said anything. I'm super interested in that piece, I'm d...

look for a very early 90s standard. i have one of these (original owner 90 or 91), and have compared it quite favorably to a few earlier models and some recent models. I also don't think they have zoomed up in price very much at all.

i've just switched to reaper, but since I have several projects laying around in Tracktion 3, it isn't really going away all together.

I've mixed a few songs where the kick and bass are hard panned together, and the snare and overhead are hard-panned the other way. this actually works pretty well.e

I would steer clear. These machines are most like a super bitch to service and find parts when they will inevitably fail. The cost of repair would eclipse the deck itself fairly quickly. They are prosumer, and cramming 24 tracks into that piece of equipment (not to mention on 1 inch of tape) is aski...

ok, yeah - I think i got it. I'm going to be using an outboard pre before the comp while tracking anyway so I don't need to worry about inserts in the motu or anything I think. I guess on the mix/master bus thing, I'll just have to play around with monitor settings.
