If you want to do it right, forget 'cost-effective' and get 'great' - - it's not that much more expensive, and will be cheaper than buying a crappy one, then replacing it with something great later.DrMORRIS wrote:Come on, anybody have a suggestion ?

Putting a single number on mic pickup polar patterns is sort of useless. It's like asking how bright the sun will shine tomorrow - - in the shadow of the moon, it'll be 0% bright, but in the plains, it'll be 40%t. And if you are on Mercury, it'll be 97%. The pickup of a mic, from a given direction, ...

This sort of reminds me of a scam my roommate was involved in - - He found an ad in Popular Mechanics: "Make hundreds of dollars addressing envelopes!!! Details for $10!!!" He sent in the $10, and got a letter instructing him to put an ad in a national magazine with the tagline "Make hundreds of dol...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4394722.stm Is this ironic somehow? Im trying to work on my irony detector., Very strange and sad and also amusing story. Poly caps are by far better. Tantalums may work, but must be tested to verify their effect on the sound (THD & intermod over dynamic range would be good things to check), since the dielectric absorption properties vary with the brand, size, body type and a few other things. This can, in some situati...

It is always a good idea though to run a few test tones through the setup before starting a mix so that everything before the monitor amplifier...
