Siruis Satellite radio channel 18 was doing a simulcast with the BBC from Abbey Road Studio #2 earlier today...live linkups to bands & artists all over the globe with people covering Lennon & Beatles songs. It was great listening material while running around all afternoon. They'll be replaying it a...

Call McIntosh...they can either point you to a local repair shop or you can send it back to them and it'll come back factory fresh.

I'll probably get shot for letting these outta the bag, but what the hell... The Roland SRV-330 & 3030 are criminally underpriced digital 'verbs. Way better then anything you can find from Lexicon for $200, probably because they were $1K+ back in the day. The Sony R7 is another great 'verb for under...

That's really a personal thing man...I'm not exactly a "Satriani type weirdo" or anything...just a guy who's been playing for like 17+ years but really, there's a reason that some guitars cost what they do. Gibson is largely hit or miss, you can find a great one or a hunk of firewood. I wouldn't tra...

D112's have a whacky pattern...real loose and they tend to grab a lot of hi-hat and other hash. I dig the Beta 52 for FOH work, that generally lets the tone of the kick come though and takes EQ pretty well. The Sennheiser is great but it tends to make every kick drum sound the same, that "big rwak" ...

Last I heard was that the BRC is the dealio for the HD24, but you'd have to check with Alesis or someone who owns an HD24. I'm using a DAW with SX3 and this thing is just taking up space...I haven't used it for about two years.

Creative uses for an Alesis BRC?

The Adat's were launched a long time ago...well, I still have one for the occasional transfer but I don't really need the BRC for that. So before I punt it on Ebay, has anyone come up with a creative use for it as a stand-alone piece in the DAW environment? It's got tons of synch options and the tra...

"Hey bro...could you, like...not cash that for two weeks?" :? "Totally, but it'll take about three weeks to get those rough mixes together." I once had a pretty infamous client threaten to sick his lawyer on me because I wouldn't release his mixes. Yeah, I'm a dick...he owed about $2K and I ...

Sometimes? I know engineers HATE it but, ya gotta have a rough at the end of the session. I know there's danger of demo love but man the drive home from the session with the rough is sooooo gratifying!! Only if the bill is paid! I haven't had a cassette deck hooked up in years...probably about 3 or...

1. The "best" pad is usually the one that's closest to the source. Like Chris said, is it pre or post microphone electronics? If the mics electronics are crapping out then adding a pad farther up stream won't "fix" the problem. 2. I'd move the microphone first, maybe even pick another one or adjust ...

Now I need to start toning up the flab and get the point where hauling a 60 pound 2x12...

You could call the new guy and ask for a one song demo and if you like what he does, go ahead and schedule the session. Tell him that you want to attend though, some people charge a lot more for that. I don't see why and that kind of discourages me from booking sessions with them...but if it works m...
