You could come out of one of the main outputs. You can control that output level with the volume knob set to mains, as opposed to phones. The Motu system has manual adjustments for sends, panning, and levels. It's just that it's kind of a pain in the neck to use the controls DPS cue mix on the front...

Here's an interesting financial perspective: It would cost $30,000 to legally fill my iPod with $.99 downloads. It's hard to imagine someone wanting to hear a song, or wanting to "buy" a song, and not having the money to do so and then saying "I guess I just can't listen to that song on my iPod or c...

We've been through this so many times already. Once more around the loop couldn't hurt, though. People steal music and it makes it harder for us to make a living. People don't want to pay to hear live bands, either. How will we make money so we can make music our living? What's the real solution her...

Hi RodC. You posted as I was writing mine. Great idea on the 1588B mod, especially if you only use one channel on these. You can use the pot position of the second channel as the trim pot.

I assume you're using the 1588B or C preamp modules in it. A good way to keep the gain down in these preamps is by using the 15356 line transformer plugs, instead. When I was using mine I'd have one of each in each channel so I could chose without having to take them out of the rack. They pop up on ...

RIP.
We played two NRBQ songs at the gig tonight in honor of Tom.
Ridin' In My Car is a masterpiece of an album. So many great songs, such a great band.

Last year I went to the UPS center in Austin to ship out a few things. A woman walked in behind me with a huge truckload of packages and ask for a cart. One of the employees offered to help her load it up. This thing was piled high, I mean 8-9 feet tall. He comes whipping around corner and the whole...

I don't know what mics those are, but I can tell you I hate switches on mics.

"Is the switch on?"

Tweed Deluxes had under-built output trannies. Blackface Deluxes had under-built output trannies in that they don't hold up well to running the external speaker jack. 60's Bassman heads have the most over-built trannies of any Fender amp, in my opinion. I have never, ever seen one with a blown power...

I think when we talk about the cream rising to the top, we have to examine what the "top" is. Who's "top"? Billboard's? Rolling Stone's? Your 13 year old niece? Country music radio? Who cares? Ear of the beholder. I watched the Classic Album dvd on the Band again yesterday. Brilliant group, wouldn't...

I've had 828MKII since 2003-ish, maybe earlier. So far only one firewire port has gone bad (from me plugging in the cable upside down) and the mic input 2 is noisy. I muted that input so now I only have 9 analog inputs :? . I ended up buying another one in excellent condition for $300, shipped. Tota...

My experience with swapping out 12AX7 tubes in my Altec 1566As was eye opening. I thought the Ruby 12AX7 AC7 HG+ bested the reissue Tungsol 12AX7 and the reissue Mullard 12AX7. It just sounded more hi-fi, for lack of a better term. The highs were crisper and it sounded more transparent in general. I...

Chris, I agree with what your saying. I guess I always come back to "subscription services not paying enough to artists" because this is what I hear people complaining about the most. I'm actually not seeking a solution to a problem that I feel is my problem. It's more of a question directed to thos...

Gregg, I just posted without reading yours'. You make some great points there. Yeah, I feel extremely fortunate to have made a lower middle class/just above poverty line type living the last 20 years. It's a constant hustle that involves mainly playing live music, but also running sound, recording b...
