Ugh does it matter, really? I find the HD24XR stock to be acceptable for my purposes and fit my budget well...if my only choice was a Radar then I would not have gotten either. I have a record coming out where a little over half the songs were recorded direct to PT HD with Apogee AD16s, then we've g...

K if I was to save up for the best I'd have bought Abbey Road because I know I will always record.. You can maybe see that I am being sarcastic because you are vague about what you want to spend?

That's funny, most labels are not signing new artists? I beg to differ. What kind of meaningful label type services will your team of you and your wife be able to do out of your home that an artist can't do on their own? I mean perhaps you've got a long list of connections, pull with distribution an...

A budget will get you more constructive help... Don't forget about boring stuff in your budget like cables, headphones, stands... A few decent mics will go a long way, honestly if you are on a low budget I wouldnt worry about colored pres, enough pres to track everything and maybe a dbx 160 or 166 w...

Man they've got it all wrong. You need Steven Slate drum samples to replace every drum and make up a key and Autotune every instrument to that before putting a Maximizer on every track.

Having downloads available instead of other formats is not so much gutless as it is a response to the state of the music industry in general as well as the economy. If you can pool together the money to make 1000 CDs that you will struggle to sell just to say you did and to make you feel like you be...

Well you have HD24Tools to transfer data now with the HD24. Still a bit of a chore (you need to own either the FireWire caddy, find a dock that will accept the HD24 caddy, or manually remove the drive from the caddy and put it in your computer). I have an HD24XR which I exclusively use for transferr...

If you want software Amplitube works well and you don't make any "committed" decisions by destroying the vocal on the way in. Not only that but it's pretty good for adding dirt to anything, I use it on keys and bass all the time. T Racks clipper can also be used this way. For hardware obviously ream...

No exp with vinyl but I have an impending (mass produced) album to be released soon so thought I might chime in. It is my personal belief that getting CDs produced (in great quantities, which I'm assuming you're making around 1000?) is vanity for a small unsigned band (sorry if I am incorrect about ...

Hmm didn't know they had firewire on Mac Minis now, but the processor speed definitely leaves something to be desired...and so much for UAD on there... My current desktop isn't hugely slower than the Mini and I run into a lot of bottlenecks on the sessions I run...I don't think that would be a big e...

I concur with the above statements... The weakest points I heard were the performances in general, the mix and master I thought was decent though I prefer more pop and attack in drums, the keys could stand to go down a notch, and the verse vocals a bit louder (I don't care what anyone says without a...

as far as the apple tax goes, it varies. The Mac Mini is an insanely good deal. It's well under a grand and is perfectly adept at doing most work you ever need to do on a Mac. Shame it doesnt come with and i5 or i7! The notebooks are kinda apple taxed, you can certainly find cheaper i5 and i7 based...

Re: Any Hackintosh users?

Okay just a disclaimer... I am not interested in starting a debate about Mac vs PC or the actual ethics of building a Hackintosh system I think discussing this on this board is uncool. You're putting TOMB at risk by discussing how to accomplish illegal things here. Personally, I'm cool with you hac...

Thanks I've been to the Insanely Mac and realize that parts selection is critical, which is something I take into count when building a machine.. Currently seems almost straight forward to load a Hackintosh now...used to be a lot more steps involved but the current tools available make it look dead ...
