OS9 users of the world UNITE!

Having a hard time justifying an upgrade from a system that really is rock-solid. Any other Pro Tools 5 users out there running Macs under OS9? I have tons of plugs that are fairly similar (if not the same) to their OSX siblings (i.e. Bomb Factory, McDSP, JoeMeek, Moogerfooger, Waves Renn, etc). I r...

FS: Custom 1975 12 x 4 Mixing Console - PRICE LOWERED!

Amazingly...still available! What you see before you is seriously a one of a kind piece of recording history. Made by Decibelab in Massachusetts, there were only 2 of these consoles made. This is the larger one, which the original designer kept himself. Also, the guy who built this console worked fo...

I knew a studio that had an X2 and it was down more than it was running. Lots of power supply problems. I'd stay away. Sound wasn't all that great anyway. He replaced it with a Ghost and that sounded much better. And....it worked

Can someone recommend a setup primarily for voice-over work?

Hey all, I have the task of putting together a cheap-ish small PC setup workstation for VO work. Only familiar w/Macs & not PCs. Is there a USB/input device & software one could recommend? Just need rudimentary edit/capture software (needs to be able to output AIFF & mp3) already have the mic (EV RE...

it's great for realtime manipulation

sounds are inspiring at times. I'd much rather use the KP1 than try to program something in pro tools.

Great on keys, especially string synths

Sony/Ibanez SDR1000+, Korg PME40x analog effects

Hey all - for sale: Ibanez SDR1000 multieffects unit . One of the best kept secrets in the industry. Around 1986 Ibanez collaborated with Sony to make an upscale effects unit to compete with the Lexicon PCM70. Reverb sounds nice + smooth. This unit was upgraded to the SDR1000+ model. Works fine, com...

best of luck on that.

the 100 series was good sounding but considered a dog by techs. I had a chance at one of those some years ago and was told to RUN from it by more than one tech. I sincerely hope you have the ability to get yours running b/c it does sound mighty fine when all tuned up.

Tangents aren't bad - not great either. $400 for one is pretty steep, unless it's the big studio model. The small 8 and 12 ch models are worth about $100. Still worth a look though. Other cheap small desks worth mentioning: Heathkit TM-1626 (6 input stereo out from 1974 - looks like a 1/8 scale bigg...

Ampex 300-4 tube reel to reel w/electronics - $50

Langevin 16 input 4 buss AM-4 recording console - $400

Wurlitzer 200A - $100

Moog Source - $60

I agree that the Series 1 (or 1S) is worth only about $250-$400 in the open market. They do sound decent though, better than the 200B and on par with the Series II. The Sowter trannys sound sweet as does the EQ. Some of the Series 1 desks had channels with sweep EQ, similar to the Series II. Sorry -...

$2500-$4000 is a more realistic figure that it will fetch though
