Re: Izotope rx2 or other denoiser?

Re: Recommend me a pair of mics for acoustics, piano...

The Telefunken m60 and m260 seem great from everything I've heard. They seem to hit the sweet spot for me between neutral and hyped. Don't have them though. I love my marik modded c1000s enough that I've managed not to pull the trigger yet on the m60s.

Re: Sonarworks Reference 4 Headphone Edition

Morphit's Correct mode does the flattening, Simulate does the emulation.

Re: Sonarworks Reference 4 Headphone Edition

Don't have experience w. Sonarworks, but check out Morphit by Toneboosters. Cheaper by far and the demo can be used indefinitely if you don't mind it not saving settings: https://www.toneboosters.com/tb_morphit_v1.html Pretty useful IMO when mixing on headphones. You can "correct" for your current h...

Re: drummers without sound holes on their kicks!

I've used a condenser in figure 8 to pick up the under snare and beater, then copied and used gates to assign to snare and kick busses. Works fine until there's a song that has snare and kick hitting together.

Re: Recommendations for a good cheap stereo mic

I quite like the RM BIV russian stereo ribbon which can be had for $300-ish depending on exchange rates. http://lent-mic.ucoz.ru/news/lentochnye_mikrofony/2014-06-05-2 But that black212 12gauge mic sounds pretty nice, and the small size should make it easy to mount. Though the drum overhead samplewa...

This is the closest thing I've seen to what you're talking about:

You could duplicate the track and set up a gate to duck the louder passages, and adding that back in to the original would make the quieter parts louder. But you'd have to be real careful setting it up or you'll get some funny sounding pumping.

Nice feel on this one! Like a soundtrack to some forgotten 60s TV show. Any details you want to share? Excellent quality out of a portastudio!

what's the scam? Are they looking for a gear list to shop from when robbing the place? Are they hoping you'll give them your bank account info in hopes of receiving a transfer from them?

The heat gun did the trick on the XLR jack, thanks.

The stripped hex bolt I may try using a torx bit to get out, have to find one of the appropriate size.

Thanks so much for this. I'm working on replacing the foam in my PL20, but the head basket hex screw seems to be stripped. I'd rather not try to drill into it given the small size, Also, the xlr jack isn't budging even though the retaining screw seems to be turning properly. I've tried seeing if rub...

Still use mine regularly. Stripped out a lot of the screening inside and dampened the bodies with some foam on mine. Great for vocals and acoustic guitars.
