I messaged Rode through their website a couple weeks ago, and have yet to get a reply about repairs on the mic. im pretty much under the impression they aren't going to help... I've contacted RODE support a couple of times, they've been great. Free fixes (replacement shockmount for my NT1A, exchang...

You're not going to stop the prices from going up on things that are cool. If they're cool and cheap then they're undervalued. It will correct itself eventually whether you post about it on TOMB or not. Personally I usually refrain from mentioning stuff until I already own as many of them as I'm ev...

More & more cheap outboard hardware is starting to get pricey on the used market... Maybe it's best not to write about them so much. We should develop a code, like, if we say something sounds like dogshite*, we really mean it sounds good; if we say a certain bit of gear is dogshite, it's actually c...

Symetrix 501 & CL-150 are great VCA comps. So is the Ashly SC-50. The original ART PRO VLA is a cool opto comp for the price. The ART dual Levelar a little less so b/c it sounds less hi-fi. More & more cheap outboard hardware is starting to get pricey on the used market (like the 501's @ >$200 used)...

I like the e602 too, the first version. My current band has been tracking in our rehearsal room for the past few months off and on and everyone loved the Beta52 that the drummer provided.... except I hated it. It sounded boomy and indistinct. For me, it's the e602 on kick (lots of beater) or a d112 ...

I have a pair of stock Apex 205 ribbon mics that I recently tried as overheads on my loud stoner-rock band drummer's kit; with my Presonus Digimax LT (54db max mic pre gain) the drums sounded small and lifeless, lacking dynamics. I know something's wrong when stock Digi 002R mic pre's sounded bette...
