I've been really happy with Audio Technica ATM450's these days. I ended buying four of them at $120 per mic. I also like Sennheiser MD504's (predecessors to the current Sennheiser e604). I just bought four more MD504's on eBay for a total of $160. I mic both top and bottom on toms. I like Sennheiser...

20 years ago... damn, it's been 20 years already... my friends and I produced a skit show at our local community television station. During one of our remote shoot locations we lost the station's boom microphone (635a) and my friend had to pay $100 for the loss. Shoot ahead about 8 years and I find ...

yep first ribbon. i needed something that would rock as a main violin mic. but i'm finding that it has a great presence for tons of instruments. should i be using pop screens when i do room mic stuff? i'm afraid i'll just ignore it if i have to keep it bagged and boxed. i tend to work fast and use ...

I haven't known anyone to "blow it out" but stress-stretched? Yes. Even walking across a room will distress a ribbon over time. I'm guessing this is the first ribbon mic you've owned or at least one in that price range? You'll get over being over-protective. My RCA 44BX that I bought 6 years ago (ne...

On the top: Josephson e22s Bottom: Sennheiser MD504 I'll run the Josephson through a Drawmer 1960 with next to no compression or through Sytek pre (a non-BB channel). The Sennheiser will most likely run through whatever pre is unused after everything is mic'd (I'm not particular about bottom snare i...

Hey Neil! Hope things are going well for you, say "Hi" to Bruce for me next time you see him. My Otari 2" was serviced once by Scott Cummings at American Pro Audio and he was really expensive, took his sweet-ass time, and a bit grumpy. He also "gave up" on two pieces of gear I wanted him to fix... h...

I hear ya. My problem is it's hard for me to part with anything even if I'm trading-up, hurting for money, or don't use the piece often enough. We keep talking about a visit to Winterland but my move to Arizona was abrupt. I've been here since mid-January. I don't know the next time I'll be in Minne...

I contacted Wavelab and the Pearl mic used during that workshop was the DT40.

Thanks!

Once the price hits the $3000 mark there are other things I'd be choosing instead.

Damn... I was hoping it wasn't the tube model. Those run about 3G's.

I'll keep holding my breath until I hear definitively.

I'm wondering if it was Schumacher's? or was it part of the loaner pile?

Minimal Drum Mic'ing Workshop question

Anyone take note of which model Pearl mic was being used during the Minimal Drum Mic'ing Workshop?

Based on seeing it from a distance I'm guessing it was the CC22?

It sounded fantastic, nice and detailed... surgical without being sterile.

Anyone?

Thanks,
