From the mag: recording vox in the control room

Last week I did a location recording session at a theater for a video. The singer performed better with stage monitors than with headphones, so I positioned the monitors in the nulls of the mic's polar pattern and got a great recording with minimal bleed. Then I read the about the same technique in ...

So you are locked into SDII? Not even aiffs or wavs? I guess the workaround is to export the files individually as aiffs, etc.

Question about Digital Performer

Hey all - I usually track in DP 4.5 and then edit in ProTools because I'm just faster in PT. The default audio file format for DP is SDII. I looked everywhere but couldn't figure out how to change this.

How do I make my DP sessions record BWFs? It drove me crazy all day today...

Thanks is advance!

making multi-pair cable

Hello all - I have a quick question. I came into some mogami multi cable. I'm putting some trs connectors on both ends and I came across something weird. There is an insulated hot wire, an insulated cold wire and a ground wire. But then there is braided copper shielding wrapped around all three. Sho...

This is the main issue. What the intern did in this particular case was undermine the position of the engineer and/or studio. This is the worst possible thing that can happen in a session. I did this same thing as an intern. I was just starting out, I was super-excited and super-nervous, and when I...

Yeah, there isn't really an audio demand for that laptop. However, I think the time capsule is pretty slick. Integrated wireless base and 1TB backup. We could always use another backup.

Thanks for all the advice! Anyways, she's going to try and get permission to use the image from the Post Office. I came up with a great explanation of why I was against it. "I'm not going to put someone else's music on the CD, and I'm not going to use someone else's art on the cover." Then I mention...

CD Cover Art Copyright dilemma

Does anyone offer CD art and design as part of their recording deal? I am recording a local pianist who performs lesser known classical pieces. The CD we are working on has songs with a mostly Caribbean influence. She found a picture she really likes for the cover... but it's a US Postal Stamp. I to...

...why... he's a ninja. I'd be lucky to work for someone so inventive. Gosh, I hope those 250 spots haven't been filled yet.
