Finally got my nerve up...
Hullo all! I'm a longtime lurker, somtimes poster and I've finally decided to post something on here. It's me playing all the instruments and singing and it was all recorded in my den. I'm going for a "vintage" sound so hopefully I've achieved something like it. Any comments would be welcome! M. htt...

I just have to give a +1 for the B1 over the C1; they sound good on just about everything and don't have the hyped high-end that the C1 does. I'd probably get a B1, a ribbon and a 57, all of which should fit your budget and would give you lots of options. Just my two cents. Or in US dollars, my 1.99...

Not to discourage you, but I agree with Ken. An experienced engineer can coax much better sounds out of mediocre gear than a novice can with great gear. I'm a home-recordist myself, but it tooks years of practice and listening and reading before I started getting sounds that approximated professiona...

Can anyone recommend a vst saturator plugin that does a good job of de-brittlefying (I have the copyright on that word) high frequencies? I think that's the main thing I like about tape over plugs, the highs seem to saturate in such a pleasant way. I've tried demos of Vintagewarmer and Voxengo Tapeb...

The replies to this post have definitely inspired me! I'm not sure to do what; I just have a general sense of inspiration. It'll probably go away after a hot shower. I think I might actually pick this bad boy up and see what sort of nastiness ensues. I'm imagining 1176 meets John Deere, or SSL vs. M...
