Re: guitar center nyc
Anyone here old enough to remember "We Buy" on 48th? What a great place that was to get old, weird guitars for cheap--before old weird guitars became trendy I bought a Hagstrom or two there for lunch money.

Re: miking a fender twin
DO NOT bend the pins on the tube. You can break the seal of the envelope and ruin the tube, or break the pin off. You could also fuck up the socket by jamming the misaligned pins into it. Instead, the loose contacts in the socket should be retensioned and cleaned. If you don't already know how to d...

Re: Broadcast vs ProAudio?
This thread seems to have died, but I have a correction and an addition to make, anyway. I typed "euroblock", but I was thinking "phoenix." They're not the same connector. Also, one feature you find on broadcast consoles that set them apart from recording consoles is hybrids and mix-minus outputs fo...

Re: common mode rejection... help me out!
Smojo, Interfacing the outputs of balanced, professional gear to the inputs of unbalanced consumer or "prosumer" gear requires both a balanced-to-unbalanced circuit conversion and, usually, a 12dB level loss. That's because pro gear generally runs at a nominal level of +4dBu while consumer/prosumer ...

Re: Broadcast vs ProAudio?
It's true that the term "broadcast quality" has become as meaningless as "CD quality", especially since the FCC has become so lax with enforcement. It used to be that equipment used on the air had to meet certain standards, and regular proof-of-performance tests were run, but the FCC is more interes...

My best advice to you is this: you're better off with a used ADC than a new plastic junk "music store" patchbay.

Re: Before i wire all my normals, what gauge should it be?
Using magnet wire in that application is a terrible idea. The enamel is thin and easily scratched, in which case your insulation is gone and you can short out your signal. Plus, being solid wire, it breaks easily under any kind of flexing. Most people don't know how to solder properly to magnet wire...

Re: quick, dumb question about demagnetizers.
How much racket they make depends on how loose the windings in the coil are. But you should feel at least a slight vibration when it's on.

Make sure you put the drive in an antistat bag, regardless of what kind of external container you choose to use.

I went to PS 71Q. It was OK, but they made us eat lunch in the auditorium, which I didn't like. Tuna kept dropping out of my sandwich and into my lap. And the art teacher was mean to me.

By "common mode rejection circuit", I'm assuming you mean a balanced input stage.
Sure, post the schematic.

Dale Manquen sells P&G faders. I believe he's running some good deals right now on overstocks.
