Well I don't know if I'd call Joni Mitchell a rocker per se. I would call her a frikkin genius.
But hey I like rockers just as much as the next guy, and those Wilson sisters from Heart, well they rock, rock and then they rock some more.

Re: What's the trick to stereo guitars?
Cool idea - so whaddaya detune 'em like 10 cents flat or sumthin?you can detune the top three strings of the double slightly, and get the top to magically sparkle without "mushing up" the low end of the guitar.

Re: Create out of phase studio monitors for live vocal track
Basically, I'd think you'd create a mono mix of the rhythm section. Then you'd double it. Pan one mono mix, in phase, to one side. Pan another, switched out of phase, to the other. Have the singer positioned in between the monitors, when he sings. But waidaminnit.... wouldn't this cause the mix wou...

Best way to approach an upcoming MIC SHOOTOUT?
We'll be comparing 4 mics for vocal recording this week (thanks for the suggestions for which budget mics to try!), and so far I'm planning on just putting them up one at a time and recording the singer trying to sing the same thing the same way for each take. But just wondering if it would be worth...

Re: hope to try 3 mics for female vocal
Believe it or not, we did a big mic shootout awhile back for a female vocal mic and the SE Electronic Z-5600 won... WOW!!! And they're cheep! OK now that's definitely on my list of must try'em mics. Usually the GT1a with an old 12ax7 in it sounds the best....Totally the best "secret" bargain out th...

hope to try 3 mics for female vocal
I need to purchase a mic for recording a female sort of adult alternative style vocalist. Of the few mics we've tried on her before, a U87 sounded best, a 414 was eh, OK - kinda hard sounding and not flattering, a Rode Classic - crummy, kinda ghostly sounding. So I'll try to get a dealer to sell me ...

Re: Share Your Ridiculous Band Stories
I was in a trio, and the bassist had a pretty big but not full grown and not fully potty trained dog that the drummer/engineer was kind enough to baby sit at his project studio one day. Well the pooch must've had a bladder the size of a frikkin basketball or something because he first thing he did w...

Re: What's the best lighthearted movie you've seen recently?
I see that "about a Boy" and "Amelie" were both mentioned here, and for a good reason - you should rent those! And then there's Saving Silverman which is definitely not a chick movie and is highly funny. And for the most light hearted - the Ron Howard / Jim Carrey version of The Grinch. GREAT super ...

Syrupcore wrote (regarding Bush and Kerry): Of course there is a difference between the two, but you must be able to see that on the vast majority of issues, and voting records, they are pretty similar.
