Wow! I wonder if this is in direct response to - or at least expedited by - that cracked version of PT HD by XZX that been floating around for a while now. A friend of mine showed me that a few months ago. He was running PT HD 8 on his Macbook Pro with no dongle and, from what I could tell from a qu...

I HIGHLY recommend 2 vegan restaurants: - Kate's Joint - E 4th St and Ave B in Manhattan - amazing diner style menu (They had a Brooklyn location too but sadly it closed) - Food Swings - Grand St. btwn Roebling and Havemayer in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. - awesome greasy fast food joint, great drunk fo...

[Edited because I confused a couple of the links to Sweetwater. There are a lot of versions that are only slightly different - mostly dealing with the elements and their pickup pattern] My faves to work with are these from Sennheiser: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EW122G3-A/ Lots of great ...

Re: Audio out of Pro Tools to Repear then back in via ReWire
Referring to this thread , apparently that VST plug won't wrap correctly and therefore won't work in Pro Tools ... It actually wraps fine for me, and works in Pro Tools. However, I'm on PT 7.3.1 and Wrapper v2.1.1. Something to try: when you open the VST to RTAS Adapter, if it says "No" in the "Wra...

Thanks for the info. Seems like ReaStream (and all those ReaPlugs) would be useful and possibly solve my problem but they're Windows-only and I'm on a Mac :( Regardless I've sorta come up with a work around. Say I have a vocal in PT I wanna send to the GS-201: -Bounce the audio from zero (consolidat...

Audio out of Pro Tools to Repear then back in via ReWire?
Referring to this thread , apparently that VST plug won't wrap correctly and therefore won't work in Pro Tools ... So with that being said I found this video ("How To Rewire Reaper Into Pro Tools") and it got my hopes up. I downloaded a demo of Reaper to try out. My hope/goal was to be able to send ...

Resurrecting this thread yet again... Anyone have any luck using this plug in Pro Tools on an Intel Mac using the VST wrapper? I can get the plug to show up in the session and can actually push sounds through it but the interface is frozen so I can't adjust any parameters. Is that other people's exp...

On a shorter budget, my suggestion would be something like this: -One M-Audio Profire Lightbridge (used ~$300, new $400) -Two PreSonus Digimax FS (used ~$350 each, new ~$600 each) or -One M-Audio Profire 2626 (used ~$500, new ~$850) -One PreSonus Digimax FS (used ~$350, new ~$600) The first option i...

A few things that came to mind: -Are there any plug-ins on the track that might be messing with the playback level? -What metering/monitoring selections do you have checked? Pre-fader metering? Input-only Monitoring? -What version of PT are you using? If HD, have you checked the I/O or Hardware sett...

"Empire State of Mind" by Jay Z ft Alicia Keys??? Just a wild guess based off of the "piano" and "rapping" tips. I live in NYC too and can't count how many times I've heard cars driving by blasting that song. Hell, if the stereo in my car was working I'd be blasting it too. That's a hell of a drivin...

Read it over the weekend. Short but sweet. My favorite quote "'That sounds too right' means 'Please try something different.'" I've read about it before in other interviews, but I'd love to be able to see what his prototype ProTools rig looks like. Sounds interesting. I guess he's gotta be running a...

FAN BOY ALERT! I haven't gotten the new issue in the mail yet so I haven't read it, but damn am I excited for this article. As far as artists whose songs AND production i find amazing and inspiring, Jamie Stewart is at the top of my list - and he has been for a while. Kudos Tape-Op for making me ove...

One thing I learned from a friend of mine: If audio quality is important then whenever possible direct people to a YouTube link using "&fmt=18" at the end. From what I understand that suffix essentially asks YouTube to give you the best possible audio available for that file, no filters. The differe...
