Purchased the B16 compressor kit from Seventh Circle Audio. We just set up a "hack lab" at my office, and after assembling this the plan is to add a strip of LEDs to the front panel for gain reduction metering. I feel metering is sorely missing from this design. If it works, I'll be posting up all t...

I think this sounds pretty good, actually. I have a feeling, with some time, you would have shined this up nicely. <sarcasm>Perhaps these girls thought a "professional" mixer would be able to make their performances better?</sarcasm> It sounds like you got decent tones during the recording, but the ...

I only had a second to listen, but I had two quick suggestions: 1) use a short delay to give everything a bit of depth. You can also add a plate reverb for additional space. 2) Guitars are too thick and tubby. EQ to take out some of the boxiness in the low-mids, and also go ahead and throw on a hi-p...

My Opinion Only: To be involved in the "industry;" the money making entity, you would need to develop a thicker skin than what you have demonstrated while dancing on the parameter. Having stuck my head in and out rather quickly, I realized the biz doesn't have much to do with creativity or comapssi...

I think you have yet to find what you truly LOVE to do. It was not recording studios, live bands, post production. Try something else. And, don't quit your day job, you have a family now, so you cannot be self centered anymore. You've heard the expression "feel like a square peg in a round hole"? T...

Your story is fascinating and well told. My advice, keep the good job that provides a good stable life for you and your family. Keep music as a hobby. Leave the past and what could have been behind you. Thanks. Keep in mind, I'm not talking about trying to make it in a music recording studio. Rathe...

It sounds like you're doing it again to me. Do you have ADHD? Maybe you're not cut out for 9-5. You need a little bit of danger and uncertainty to focus and feel alive. Maybe some sort of consulting/freelance thing would be more your style No need to quit and burn bridges if the job's gonna end at ...

A Golden Opportunity ? Squandered

I'm afraid I've wasted an opportunity that many people ? perhaps even you ? would kill for. Stop me if you've heard this one ... In my mid-20s I was playing in bands and looking for a way to make a living of it. I was touring occasionally and, also occasionally, getting studio work. I couldn't keep ...

Danger Will Robinson! Mixing protocols is a dodgy bet. But plug it in and see.

Does your lappy have room for a card? I used a firewire card for a Digi002 on an old Dell and it worked fine.

Here are the resources I usually check. Don't know if you'll find a "deal". This guy Christian not only sells NOS tubes, he has tons of knowledge to share. You may email and ask what he recommends for your application: ProAudioTubes@aol.com Also http://tubedepot.com/12ax7.html http://www.audiotubes....

Cool interview here: http://bobbyowsinski.blogspot.com/2013/04/in-appreciation-of-andy-johns.html His take on digital definitely surprised me for a guy of his era. Couple selected quotes: "With digital, the sound that?s coming in is what you get it back. It?s much truer than any analog machine ever ...

This is probably the kindest, most sincere board I've been on ... in any genre. Perhaps she's new to the world of forums; a thicker skin is necessary.

(especially when asking a Google-worthy question)

But I digress.
