I realize the sale is over, but I just went over to the Boston store, and they have a USED 2001 for $199.
Sounds like a deal.

Re: Soundcraft Compact 10
I had a feeling that was you. The Mackies are like $100 cheaper than the Soundcraft on ebay, so I'll keep an eye on those. We've talked about trying to get out to Chicago, but we're playing the Athens Popfest this summer, and possibly Japan in the fall. This may eat up everyone's time off. Workin's ...

Re: Soundcraft Compact 10
I had a feeling that at this price range, things might not be top notch.
I am the Don Shumai from Shumai, if that's the Don Shumai you're talking about. If so, thanks! If not, move along, nothing to see here.

Soundcraft Compact 10
Hi everyone, Right now I record using a Fostex VF-16 and a bunch of outboard pres. I'm interested in getting a little mixer so I can give people a better headphone mix. I was looking into Soundcrafts, and came across this. Does anybody know about these things? The price is right, and you can only do...

Re: pink styrofoam insulation
thanks everyone. I did a search on Owens Corning.com and there's a place nearby that carries rigid fiberglass. I'm glad I didn't waste my time/money on the pink stuff.

Re: pink styrofoam insulation
Aha. I was going to affix it to the rafters or whatever they're called. If it's flammable, forget it. I'll have to try my luck with getting a store employee to help me find the fiberglass stuff.

pink styrofoam insulation
Hi everyone, I'm going to be treating the ceiling in my basement, and I was going to go the rigid fiberglass route. When I was at Home Depot last, I did a quick run down the insulation aisle, and I didn't notice any rigid fiberglass, but I did see this several inch thick pink styrofoam looking stuff...

Re: Where can I get a Casio CZ-101 manual?
I think this page was how I did it:
http://www.casio.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=support.email
Use the "product manual not listed on site" link.
They didn't email me back or anything, but one day it just magically appeared in my mailbox. It was a very synthy Christmas.

Re: Where can I get a Casio CZ-101 manual?
I had one, then our ex-keyboard player stole it, but at least I got the keyboard back. I ended up emailing Casio and they sent me a photocopied version (it took a little while, though). I think somewhere on the site there was a form to ask questions or something, and that's what I used.

Re: STUPIDEST BAND NAME YOU'VE EVER HEARD?
My old roommate's dad had been in a band called Uncle Dildo and the Gin Goblins. Apparently while he was dating my roommate's mom initially, he had worn their t-shirt to Thanksgiving with her family. We used to practice next to Electric Vomit, which after a search, it turns out there is more than on...

Books as diffusors?
Hi everyone, I just bought a house with a nice open (but square) basement that I was hoping to make into a studio. Before I got into recording, the main thing I blew all my money on was books, so I have loads of those. I was thinking of putting bookshelves all along one wall, the thinking being that...

Re: Daydream Nation's bad distortion
re:early Dinosaur Jr. records I can't remember if it's Bug or You're Living All Over Me, but in Our Band Could Be Your Life it mentions how the band's theory was that if distorted guitar sounded better than regular guitar, wouldn't distorted everything sound even better? The final tapes were so loud...

Re: tom waits and graham coxon questions...anybody...anybody
I know for the opening to Earth Died Screaming, they're banging wooden dowels on the pavement outside. Apparently Tom made everyone bang around on different things until he found the sound he liked. (Unrelated to this record, but interesting anyway: for The Black Rider, Tom made everyone rehearse in...
