Re: blacklionaudio ART Mods
yeah - I can't believe how crappy the pots are on the mp105. However, the mod is great. I cleaned the pots when I changed out the IC's, and they were dirty again within the 2 weeks that I was using the thing a lot to burn in the amps...

Anbody here use the Midibox Sequencer?
http://www.ucapps.de/index.html?page=midibox_sid.html
I was wondering if this thing is worth building - I want a hardware sequencer, and this seems like a cheap alternative. I built the Sid, and it is great, but is this seq full featured?

Re: ADAT Recording
sounds like you may be able to make something happen with the gear you already have. I once had to use a 4 track with a PA system....you are young - make things happen! You are already worlds away from where I was, holding 2 boomboxes together....oh, those were the days!

Re: Source for Resistors/Caps?
or you can just find some old junk piece of electronics and pull stuff out of that. It is kind of like shopping, except it is free. If that is not for you - I second mouser, since it is a lot easier to place an order. My only complaint is that you never know what they are going to charge you for shi...

Re: will you walk me through a pan repair on my mackie
the pot is probably dirty - aka - the carbon contacts have oxidized. Mackie uses cheap pots that do this often, instead of the dank sealed pots that last forever. You can pop the mixer open (hardly a pop, which you will soon learn...) and spray contact cleaner into the pot, and then operate the part...

Re: help...how do I clean tubes, contacts and drawbars?
another good thing to do is to shift the actual key contacts - this is recomended in the service literature, I think it is called the "bus bar" You can find it and move it around a little, to find and break up the oxidation. However, the service manual may tell you to hold down a trouble key while s...

Re: grounding a guitar amp
I have done this in the past - it is REAL simple. Do not attempt to solder a ground directly to the chassis, since it will act as a huge sink, and you will not get it hot enough to form a proper electrical connection. The proper way to do this is this: 1 - attatch the green ground wire to a ground l...

Re: Schools in NYC
learn electronic repair instead..that way when you start as an intern you can have real world skills and make money while you work for free. and become invaluable to the studio by being able to repair stuff and charge them for it!!! Is that a possibility? I have been following this thread, since I ...

Re: guitar center nyc
I met someone who worked there once (and offered to hook it up huge)- but the next time I saw him he quit. I don't get down to NYC often, but I missed a huge opportunity.... the moral is "take what you can from the corporate bastards when you can" Congrats - Tim

Re: I'm thinking about going from pc to g5...i need suggesti
I just switched over from PC this year - OSX is really simple. I have a dual 1ghz G4 - however, it still gets smoked by a G5. I only got the G4 to run 0s9 apps, and the my Motu pci324 card. If you want os9, you'll need a dual boot G4 - if you are gonna hang tough in OSX....go G5 and never look back ...

Re: Ableton Live or Adobe Audition?
Audacity is a free one - but I do most of mine in DP. Just go to http://www.versiontracker.com and look for a free wave editor, there are usually decent freeware ones out there, Good luck - Tim
