+1 on the Octave Plateau Cat.
my Cat SRMII is my favorite weird old monosynth. You can do astounding things with cross modulation of oscillators. Not the slightest bit tame.

Hey, maybe that clacking sound is just the oscillator oscillating at a really low frequency! It would be hard to figure what was the matter if it's not working, the kit could have been built incorrectly and never worked. I'm sure it's all true, but it's a very specific reality we are living when we must in fact have the actual specific hardware, D to A converters, line amps etc of basically digital synth for authenticity.
