Building your own cables will definitely save you money, but if you factor in the time it takes to do it, it may not be worth your while. Markertek is a good source for connectors & bulk cable. Canare or Mogami would be good choices for cable, Neutrik or Switchcraft for jacks.

The place I always get it when my subscription fails (which happens to me a lot for some reason) is Criminal Records in Little Five Points. I think Borders (at least the one on Ponce) carries it as well.
