Re: bellari mp-110 any good?

I have one of these and it also has a Philips tube in it. I figured the person that sold it to me off ebay had put that in there, but now I wonder.

Re: Sansamp Vs. Countryman

zoinks! Those EWI ones are wicked cheap. For $50 one of those might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the responses, everyone.

Sansamp Vs. Countryman

Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a DI, mainly for bass and keyboards. I know people seem to like the Sansamp for bass, but would I be better off getting the Countryman since I want to use it for keyboards too? Or will the Sansamp be good for screwing around with the keyboards too? Sorry if I am be...

Re: Will covering Soundboard in fabric change it's purpose

I work at an art school, and muslin is everywhere. We put some up on the ceiling in our basement where we practice/record, and it seems to be fine. Of course, I have lead ears, so maybe it actually sounds shitty, but I didn't notice anything. We also got this stuff to spray on it to make it fireproo...

Re: TOM WAITS......seeeeecrettttssssss

I know that for the opening sounds on Bone Machine he and the band walked around whacking things with sticks until the got the sound they wanted. They settled on the parking lot in front of the studio. For The Black Rider, he made the band practice in a tiny unheated shed in winter, because he wante...

Re: control-room less studios

I've only recorded in the one room environment, but that's because I've only recorded my own band, and I'm usually playing while recording (we do most of it live). The problem I run into is that if I'm playing while the recorder is going, it's very easy to get distracted by watching the levels. I al...

Re: Fiberglass snowfall

the ceilings are low, like 8 feet at most. We wanted to absorb the sound up there. It has also helped a little with hearing the drums outside the house, but that wasn't the main intent. It isn't like a shower of itchiness, but the drums are definitely causing some fibers to fall. I'll get some musli...

Re: Fiberglass snowfall

thanks for all the suggestions!

I work at an art school (RISD) where muslin is cheap and plentiful, so I may go that route and test out the "flametard" on it. Or maybe I'll just save money and itch like the dickens.

Re: Fiberglass snowfall

All they had in stock was the unfaced 703, and it would have taken weeks to get 705 (or so they told me). So we got what they had, not knowing about the tiny satan factor. Apparently they are going to stop carrying 703 now too. At least that's what they told Frank when he picked up what they told hi...

Fiberglass snowfall

Hi everyone, So I got a bunch of Owens-Corning 703, and this weekend we mounted it to the ceiling beams in the basement. It really helps with the sound in the basement, and the drums aren't nearly as loud outside as they used to be (though the kids next door asked if we were having a concert). The p...

Re: Walter Sear makes me cry

Yeah, he kind of bummed me out too. I think he makes some good points, but you have to get past his attitude. In a way he reminds me of when I was getting started in this stuff, and all these people were saying, "You'll never make a non-shitty recording on your own," but these were people who wanted...
