I used a midiverb iv for 4 years in Live applications and loved it. Compared to rival Lex or TC boxes the sound is a little thick, yes; but some people love that extra thickness. Some describe that thickness as mud. OK, whatever, that's subjective right? But make no mistake, the levels on which you ...

Been using a similar setup except it's USB rather than Firewire. Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL with a Focusrite Octopre Dynamic MKII coming in on lightpipe. Up to 16 mic pres, 4 instrument DIs, and 12 line level inputs. Half of the channels have usable compression. Good clean sound. I can always plug i...

My day gig is at a used book store where we also sell CD's/Records/Tapes and I do notice a trend of more and more kids buying vinyl and cassettes. I ask them if they have antiquated playback systems to play this stuff and they all say yes. Also, more and more kids are buying vinyl and tapes for thei...

Re: EH 12ay7 input impedance?
I've been asking folks for a couple years to no avail. Does anybody know what the input impedance of the EH 12ay7 actually is? I've got tons of killer vintage UTCs and I'm eager to use one as a step-up in front of the mic pre. It would be really useful to me to know the actual numbers, here, to sel...

Good morning, If you find a RCA Stereo to 1/8" Stereo adapter, at a local Radio Shack, and plug it into your iMac's line input and record the audio, you can then find out if this low budget solution will work for you. That Rolls device is not going to do it for you, as it is not an audio converter....

I might get flamed for this, but I'd like to know why his 990 mod isn't more affordable. I understand in the end you get a really nice mic back, but there are mics that cost less that sound just as nice. well, then you have other options, right? Yes, that's true. But I've always been a fan of MJ's ...

I love this mix (and of course the performance). I've tried a few times recently to making a recording that's hard panned like this one but found myself afraid to take it all the way. Afraid that it will sound too small, and concerned about some people not digging the mix because it's not a full ste...
