I can never get that damn D chord the way Lennon plays it with the added pinky. Mine's too short, even on my 3/4 scale SG Special. Bugger!

I used to listen to them when they were only in Chicago on XRT live on Tuesday nights. I've lstened to them maybe twice since they moved to NPR synidication. It's not the same as it was, sadly.

Take it in to an audio repair shop. I took my 414 to get resoldered and insides cleaned up. Didn't cost more than 50 bucks.

I'd suggest a tascam 424, but i've no idea if there's track alignment issues between them & fostex. I did record on a friend's Yamaha MT-50, and used my 414 for mixing. Sounded good. No alignment issues at all. Who knows?

I did play them on the first two days (other story in metronome blues), added percussion on the last day, and that was it. When the album was being mixed, I wasn't even consulted on my opinions for the mixes. The drummer wouldn't normally be consulted on the mixes, neither would the guitars or any ...

Before we recorded, we rehearsed the heck out of the songs where we were all comfy tempo-wise. Although i'd been playing for years beforehand, I never played with a click. To some drummers (and producers  ), this is a Cardinal Sin. To me, finding a natural rhythm that shifts slightly around a ...

I had to drum to a click track for one album (link in sig). Didn't like it. What I *wanted* to do was use the click as a guide in the background and focus on the music, which is how we rehearsed for the album. When we got to the studio, me being with the click was the most important part. If I slipp...

As far as art, if a guy comes in and his drums aren't tuned and I tell him to tune them but he can't because he doesn't now how, that isn't art, that's ignorance, I don't promote that, HOWEVER, if a guy comes in with drums "I think " are untuned and I tell him to tune them and he says "nope, this i...

I've been recording my friend's karaoke gigs on my digital 16-track recently. They were recorded from the soundboard, mostly in mono (RCA->1/8" cord with 1/4" adapter). After I got paid for the first gig, i bought a few RCA->1/4" adapters so I could use regular RCA cords to record in stereo. It wor...

This is very cool! Hopefully the record company geniuses will not remove the clips like they did with Gimme Shelter.
They did to most of them. Bugger.....

I didn't see anybody mention Neil Young's in "Cinnamon Girl"? You didn't bother to look thru the whole thread like I just did. It's mentioned a billion times. Only one mention of Terry Kath? Shame, people. Go listen to the Live At Carnegie Hall album. I'm sure the solo on The Rutles' "Hold My Hand"...

Of course, today HAD to be the day that i forget my headphones! This looks fantastic. I'd love to get all of these and make my own mixes on Audacity.
